To be fair I wasnt really expecting this kind of response!!
before they open terminal 5 which will increase flights
How does a building on the ground increase the number of planes taking off??? heathrow is already at near maximum capacity.
I agree with the above, but what can we do rather than pay up
Now, what I am about to propose may be complete cobblers but. In order to get around the emission/tax laws could you not have a switchable ECU. So have one very low emission setup for your MOT/tax bracket and another high co2 setting for full power?
Clive you sound like a man after my own heart.
Have you tried putting a little CASTROL “R” in your petrol …this gives the ulitmate “PetrolHeads” HIGH
Growing up is optional
Clive
I checked my V5 last night and it also shows as 208g/km (mine is an S2-S) - A bit odd as it has 15% more peak output?
My tax is currently 112 for 6 months so are we really looking at 300 pa now - Robbing gets, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!!!
I thought the Exige S was 216g/km
Just double checked - and it is deffo 208 for the S - I won’t be getting the DVLA to check it out though!!
Yipeeeeee the weekend is here
fec me…a couple of hours early for you then, is brummie land is a different time zone?
Just for the record, Dudley isn’t in Brummieland, rather Yam-Yamville
…And another thing.
Having travelled around some of the far eastern cities recently I can tell you our 'Hapeth Worth aint going to do ANYTHING to save the world. The eastern lot are burning it up far , far more than we can dream about!!!
We are all DOOMED …DOOMED Mr Mainwaring
I love the political rants once- in- a -while.

Because American Airlines, BA, Continental and Delta are all moving flights from Gatwick to Heathrow. In addition Northwest have been granted 3 new routes into Heathrow leaving their Gatwick operations untouched. No one at Heathrow has given up slots or routes, hence more flights.
It is true Heathrow is very close to capacity. All the above moves are likely just to increase delays until the third runway is built.
An interesting discussion going on over at PH, sadly the only thing we can do is sign a pointless petition…

I reckon that a standard S1 VHPD will be close to zero emissions

I didn’t think that I could get any higher than I am already, but I’ll sure give it a try
Any advice on increasing the popping and banging too while I’m at it (and paying for it)?
Cheers,
Clive.
I was just thinking about the earlier suggestion that you could pay VED based on actual emissions. Would be pretty easy to do now with the computerised MOT test…
I hope they don’t!
This is worth a quick look. Never thought about tax paying “tactics” before. Tax Dodge
I’ll be buying 6 months worth in August when my current ticket is up, that leaves me paying 12 months at current rates in Feb 2009. Just before the hoik.
Signed!!!

Regrattably, this is an exactly correct description of this petition. See this explanation of POINTLESS PETITION on the FBHVC website and contained in their Newsletter (see pages 3-4 under the heading Myths and Petitions and don’t be put off by the cover picture). The Federation is doing a great job of keeping tabs on legislation such as that outlined in these threads and you would do well to read some of the FBHVC Newsletter information on legislation.
This particular petition quotes a non-existant threat of legislation. In fact the EU has formally recognised that the ‘old car’ movement throughout Europe is responsible for less than 0.05% of polution from vehicles and, as such, has NO PLANS at all to introduce such legislation.
Mind you, uncle Ken does intend to restrict the use (by heavy taxation) of commercial vehicles over 10 years old on the streets of London but this does not affect cars.
There is a lot of misinformation out there…
But Mike, we’re British! We don’t do demonstrations and protests and we don’t blockade the ports French style. Oh no, we just …sign things.
we’re good at queueing too!!
I do believe Iv got the answer to the problems here…
When I start my dictatorship, I will introduce a ‘fat tax’ whereby everyone who is over a certain percentage bodyfat gets heavily taxed on food (and likewise luxury unhealthy food costs more), with the tax level being in brackets much like the car tax, so fatter people have to pay far far more.
This will not only raise revenue for the government, but will also mean that fatter people will end up spending less on food, so will lose weight, substantially easing pressure on an already overburdened NHS system, therefore that will require less funding, sinced it will require far fewer resources. I think Im on to a winner…
Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for the horrified responses!

You have my vote! Can you introduce a scheme of weighing and measuring people on airlines too? how come i have to pay more if my bag weighs 10kgs extra, but the person taking up 2 seats (their own and half of each of the two next to them) and weighing at least 50kgs more than I do pays nothing more than a standard fare!
…rant over…
