Tanker strike threatens Anglesey TD ???

JFK spotted moonlighting…
Rocking horse poo Podger… It’s a case of who you know…
Stobart are, however recruiting tanker drivers and… wait for it …
Paying them 8 an hour !!!
No tanker driver vacancies on their web site either…But they’ll pay shunter’s circa 25k per annum , which is more than 8.00 an hour

So 8 per hour for a tanker driver looks like yet another ‘urban legend’ :frowning:

Don’t know where to start:
Boothy: the “media” report verbatim what tosspots such as Cameron and Maude say.If they are stupid enough to urge people to panic buy then they must reap the consequences.

And Podger:
Once again we find ourselves at opposite ends of the spectrum, if not the universe!

Don’t bring the media into it! It’s Cameron and that tit Francis Maude wot caused the panic.
Seemed they gave sound , and good advice to me  and since petrol was invented I think people keep a can , in the garage, or garden shed.
I keep one gallon to fill my Suffolk Punch. I don’t try to drain the tanks at my local filling station on the ill-thought-out advice of tossers like Cameron and Maude.

As I said earlier, many of the companies who’s drivers were balloted are non-UK owned so it would be a straightforward job to get some of their non-UK drivers to fill in the gaps caused by strikers.

It’s good to see that some people have a decent level of sense, ie. not brimming tanks at every other petrol station 'cos they’re so bloody selfish.

If everyone sitting in a petrol queue actually took 5 minutes of that wasted time to think about their actions and whether they really needed those last few litres, the potential supply issues would be solved

Hear, hear!

Well here is some nut who is flying 3/4 of the way around the world for this trackday and will be quite upset if there is no petrol for his hire car at Manchester airport Friday morning :frowning:

I’ve decided to delete most of my posts on this topic as they were mostly political and have nothing to do with the joy of Exige ownership. Whilst we can all worry about the real problems of finding fuel for our cars we should keep these threads as a fun place to be.

I’ve left the posts in place, but removed all the text, so that there is some sort of continuity.

Oh Mike, I like your rantings. Our opinions on varying subjects make us who we are, and this place is made all the better for it, in my opinion.

I agree with Sean. Mike the points you were making were a whole lot more interesting than last nights Question Time. Where do they find 'em? Who votes for them?

Hey Mike, I’m with Sean. I think Exiges is special more because of that nature of the interactions (well, most of them!) more than what is said.

Group hug at Anglesey!

Now, I hear they have to give 7-days notice of a strike, so as it’s Friday does that not mean we should be all right? Better even, there’ll be no queues for fuel!

BBC: "Conciliation service Acas says it hopes talks between employers and unions will take place shortly after Monday.

This makes Easter strikes unlikely because the unions have to give seven days’ notice, correspondents say."

Cheers, Ian

That’s impressive if they’re full!

BBC news have just reported that the unions have said they will not strike next weekend.

Fuel strike over Easter ruled out by union - BBC News

Oh dear

It hasn’t stopped the queues yet though Ian :frowning: Lets hope the good people of Anglesey & all those using the ferry have a lot more sense than most of Britain.

Spare a thought for the Army - my brother in law is off to Afghanistan for his latest 6 month stint mid April - he’s just been told that all leave is cancelled over Easter in case they are needed for driving fuel delivery trucks - so he now can’s spend the time with his duaghters!

Bloody McCluskie!

Still - it sounds like there’ll be no strikes over Easter!

Mark
