Supercharger upgrade Part 1

Last week I dropped off my pride and joy with TurboTechnics, I’ve just received the following pics from them showing me their current progress. Once the conversion is complete, I’ll create a separate area on this site detailing the process in full.(Click to enlarge) [image]http://www.exiges.com/gallery/tt/ttpic1a.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/gallery/tt/ttpic2a.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/gallery/tt/ttpic3a.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/gallery/tt/ttpic4a.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/gallery/tt/ttpic5a.jpg[/image] [This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 09 April 2001).]

Update:Rob Yeomans informs me that my crankcase wasn’t machined straight (from Factory) and is being machined to rectify the alignment (sounds all Greek to me). They’re running behind on schedule now, and don’t expect the car to be running for “several weeks” yet [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]Still, I knew what would be involved…

I wonder, what is the problem with a gay crankcase??? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

Aren’t crankshafts meant to have bumps and lumps in them? I thought that’s how they worked.Wot’s it going to do Mister, when it’s finished this beast of yours - apart from scare you whittles that is - This is going to be some fast motor, best give me some warning when you set out, so I can listen for the sonic boom. All the best

Latest update from TurboTechnics:Car will be at least another 4 weeks (that’s in addition to the 5 weeks they’ve already had it)Original estimate was 4 weeks. The missed track days are just flying by…Not happy [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/mad.gif[/image]

Hit em for a late penalty! 1000 per week sounds good.

What is the expected output following the conversion…I presume its going to around 250 BHP. Could you give me the contact details of Turbo Technics and approximately how much will it cost for the conversion. [This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 15 May 2001).]

260 BHP 12,000It’s a major rebuild, including lots of strengthening01604 705050Ask for Rob Yeomans

Is that a Carbon Fiber Elise in the backround? Can you still get Carbon Fiber body clams and such for the S1 Elise?James HochmuthMillenium 111S

Yep, carbon fibre all round. Not sure how the owner obtained them though.

You can find the www of Turbo Technics besides others: http://members.1012surfnet.at/automotive.platform/favorite4.htm quote:Originally posted by Maverick:What is the expected output following the conversion…I presume its going to around 250 BHP. Latest Update:In a week’s time, the engine is booked in to go on the dyno, then I’ll know exactly how much the engine is pushing out.Assuming everything’s OK, it’s just a case of plopping the engine back in (so they say)

davidbesides the engine are you having any other mods such as uprated clutch etc fitted?

The TT conversion comes with a Motorsport clutch as standard.I’ve asked them to look into uprating the rear toe-links, but I don’t rate my chances of a successful outcome.I just want the thing back now.

Latest Update:Sure enough, my contact at TurboTechnics is on holiday, and no-one knows whether my engine has been dyno’d or not.Apathy and confusion reigns supreme.Time without car: 10 weeksOriginal Estimate: 4 weeksOVERDUE: 6 weeksHappy Status: Not[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 11 June 2001).]

David - I was thinking more along the lines of gearbox and drive shafts…is the box rated to take all that extra power and if so the next thing in the line are the driveshafts…I know Motorsport do upgraded ones for the race series but i don’t know the thinking behind it or the benefits (if any) of getting them.Sounds like they are a little disorganised at the moment…but then you are the development mule so I guess they could be forgiven for taking longer than planned…however, there is no excuse for not keeping you fully informed.

David, are you sure that they are not a branch of Thielert???
