Since it has been raining all day, I was just wondering…
Has anyone supercharged a 1.8VHPD unit… like the Honda guys do with the K20?
Pete.

Bit of a time bomb if you ask me (but i dont know much )
there’s a guy with the turbo technics vhpd who uses it for hill climbing. His is 300bhp now and he love’s it as i did when i owned my turbo technics tt260 car.
I was just wondering…
Is this the next mod then Pete?
I must admit 260bhp from the k would be nice.
HI Mate!
Late night!!!
NO, just interested as the Honda guys seem to be able to do this mod ‘easily’ as a pretty much bolt install with ECU work to match. Just wondered if the K was as ‘simple’…
Turbo Tech’s are no longer doing these ‘kits’ and apparantly never done a VHPD one either.
Anyway! Whots wrong with your 216!!! Your ‘K’ is brill!

Yeah they have - know of at least 2. First was Mr Admin’s original Exige, which was later bought (twice!!!) by Chris, & the second belonged to a guy called Brannan, from Yorks.
The above brings back all sorts of happy memories
PS Anthony Clark runs a TT s/c engined Exige in LOT Races - not sure if that started off as a VHPD - Evosal will know for sure, though.
Cheers Rob!
I Spoke to TT this a.m before posting this, and that’s what they told me…
Seems logical enough that it has been done though… I am sure Evosal will add some gen!
Still raining… my garage is not quite wide enough to take both the front wheels off to change my disks… or perhaps I should loose some weight!

Bloody hell, you must have dozens of hangars to choose from

Nope… the missus has ironed all the clothes!
Yes Antonys race car is a vhpd supercharged its the tt 260, i sourced the engine for him from a crashed s1 exige (the one the valeters crashed a couple of years ago)

Bloomin eck - it must have been a real mess before Nigel got his hands on it, & fixed it up for Anthony
It always looks like that when he’s finished a race anyway
That oversill looks familiar,…cheers Chris

More gen about the engine please!!!
I dont really have any more info to be honest Pete, Antony has had a few problems but they have been his own doing, like carrying on for 6 laps of Donnington after a bump, with no radiator that really foooked it
It does seem to go ok when its right though
Quite a bump then…
More interested than action… just ‘surprised’ that there out not loads out there… but then again!!!
Cheers,
Pete.
Pete
As far as I can remember, the TT conversion replaced conrods/pistons, & included an Emerald ECU, as well as all the plumbing gubbins. I think it cost just short of 10K, so certainly was not a cheap option at the time.
Just remembered another TT converted Exige (Cobalt Blue) - owner who commissioned it was Russell Morgan (Caterham/Renault Spider/Marcos racer from about 15 years ago).
Yep! Thats what their (out of date??) web site says…
The Honda route is certainly a huge ‘bang’ for the buck in comparison!! Pretty sweet noise too!
Love my ‘K’ though!!!

Hi Pete,
Working nights this week, hence the early morning surfing.
Quite happy with the 216, but always happy to upgrade at the right price.
Did you manage to get booked onto Oulton on the 28th?
ive still got all the paper work i think or at least a copy of it. The vhpd tt260 conversion cost 12000, i dont think Dave paid that much though that could of been as it was the first so it was being ‘developed’. There is a lot more to the vhpd version than the standard k series one. The k series one was converted to a tt190, tt215 or the tt230 depending on if it had vvc or paid that bit more. I think from memory it was about 6000 for the k series conversion to a tt190/tt215. Best bit of the conversion was the sound. I tried to by that tt260 out the black car off Evosal but it was already sold to his mate so had to settle for the Audi one instead.
