if you fit stronger springs will this just wear the cams out quicker ?
If you fit lighter valves could you not keep the springs the same weight ?

Do you mean to tell me your dealer is going to source parts fron “Japan” when you could just call monkey wrench racing and have the parts you need sent FedEx the next day
But he’s got these valves already. Furthermore, if he supplies them, he is responsible. If I, on my own initiative, got stuff from the US, I would carry the responsibility.
why ask for advice when you don’t take it…good luck you are gonna need it…
The advice was to use uprated items, wasn’t it? Or are you saying the Japanese don’t know how to make uprated parts for a Japanese engine?
Still not certain that I will use the uprated stuff, I’ll only do that if the old head can be re-used.

Presumably wear will be increased. Whether it is enough to be an issue, I don’t know.

Not sure that it is that simple…
Your dealer isn’t gonna warentee the valves, he may say he is but valve failure would be next to impossible to prove…Yep Eibach valve springs bought in japan…
If you don’t up grade your parts while the engine is being built the only thing showing of you in that Swiss sand will be the bottoms of your freakin feet…How did you get this far with out a working brain ?

I’ll certainly be in a better bargaining position if he supplied the parts (and therefore gave them a “seal of approval”) than if I bring stuff and say, “Fit this” if it fails he could say, “We only fitted what you brought not our problem!”.
If you don’t up grade your parts while the engine is being built ()
But, if an engine is built, it will get upgraded parts! If it needs a total new one, there is no building to do I’ll simply take the ready-to-install stock one and try to control myself! Some of us have wives who are not overly enthusiatic about the cost of these big boys’ toys! Knowing the expense of wrecking it will be a motivator to drive it more kindly…

Beats me 3 university degrees and a “Doctor” title for research. Maybe I found them in my breakfast cereal packet?

Well I guess having Doc. hanging on the wall is all that’s needed…but it doesn’t put the coin in your pocket to step up and buy the right parts so that you don’t do a repeat performance…Ahh the beautiful sandy beaches of Switzerland…
So you don’t rate japanese tuning? Is that based on experience?
Speedy, i would like to compliment you on your self control. Without it this thread would be in the muppet show. Well done.

Agreed Although I do genuinely think Frank has a friendly smile on his face when he posts If not, you’re a bad boy Frankie
I think Frank should apologise or be dismissed to The Muppet Show
Everyone has their own style. Frank just shoots from the hip.
I have no problem with that he’s convinced that he’s right and clearly finds it frustrating his advice is not acted on to the letter.
We all have to make our own decisions at the end of the day. If I get the stock motor and blow it again, he can shoot me down
and I’ll probably give up and go get a 500SL
but more likely a used SL55 AMG
though I wish I could afford a Gallardo Superleggera which I would spec with the paddle shifts to avoid “issues”!
he says what he thinks
at least you know where you stand with Frank, Ronin, Mr profera, LA Exige pimp
And I sure would like a drive of his car
Yo Speedy I’m not raggin on ya I just don’t wanna see you make an expencive mistake that’s all, when spending a few extra bucks on parts that have no power gains but will give you peace of mind…I’ve blown up more crap then I can remember so for some strange reason I’d rather not see or hear about you having a repeat performance due to not droping a little extra coin…
yeah I do shoot from the hip with at times but dude you don’t wanna do it again…
If you guys are ever in LA call me I’ll toss ya the keys…
SL no way, a CLS 55 AMG with a few monkey tricks is the way to cruise…
Na, CL65 AMG, much nicer inside…oh, and it’s got 600bhp.
Ian
Now just look here! This is my fantasy car off-topic swerve and I say that, if it’s a Merc, it has to have the droptop, so there!
But the Superleggera is cool enough to be acceptable in coup form so if anyone has one that they want to give me…

N/A no way…only 600hp pitty…nicer?
Hell if I want topless I’ll go to the insta teller for some change and hit a few clubs…
