Speedline Wheel interest on SELOC..

The darkside clicky

There’s a chap on SELOC trying to gauge interest on a group buy of Speedline S1 wheels if anyone is interested? By the look of it there needs to be 25 confirmed sets before they’ll put them into production.

Yeah I’d be up for a set at the right price and if all the gremlins with other batches could be guaranteed sorted.

I think 10-15 sets maybe at a push but 25 is a big ask given the number of cars left.

I feel a strange feeling of deja vu…that historically has ended in disappointment.

i think the op on seloc has changed his mind already lol

Still worth a read in case anyone else is entertaining similar thoughts. There can’t be too many other cars where getting correctly dimensioned wheels for a reasonable price is so stupidly difficult!

Agreed! Maybe someone attending Autosport could go and talk to the manufacturers again?? It’s not a big market but there’s a steady stream of business and a proper nice looking, correctly dimensioned wheel that did not weigh a ton would sell a good few sets a year at about the 1250ish mark.

Maybe it’s something Seriously Dave could pick up and become the S1 Exige wheel man…

I tried this a few years ago… but since the factory has moved to Italy, they were not interested!

Big Shame as the guy I spoke to was one of the original peeps involved in the S1… he told me that the Speedline wheel was the wheel of ‘choice’ at the time but for reasons various (the offset on the rear wheels was, and continues to be incorrect… just not worried about!!!) put them off!

I think it’s this link that makes the Speedlines so attractive as its an authentic look (says the Honda boy  ). Saying that a nice 5spoke forged wheel like a TMR or braid could get my cash…

TMR’s are lovely! BUT nearly 3k!!!

TMRs are the best, but it’s just the price that stings somewhat. They are lovely though, light and really suit the car. I was never that fussed on the look of them but just wanted the lightest wheel available for track work, but seeing them “in the flesh” on my own car, I LOVE the look of them.

I love your car mate!

Yes, TMR’s are the BIZ!

Perhaps a group buy on them!!!

don’t forget the french man if you are opened to a group buy…

We should ask TMR if they’d do a cost-down version for pikeys that did not have the bling polished rim and maybe was more robust but heavier???

TMR’s are nice, but they do bend very easily, pot holes and curbs destroy them.

Ben, back in the day a few people tried to contact TMR to ask for a group buy and bring the price down. They put the price up instead!

I agree with what has been said, they are the sexiest wheel for an S1 in my opinion by miles and they are super light!!! But they are made of cheese.

Sold my TMRs because of the damage factor, kerb hopping when racing.
The SJR Leggero wheels i have for sale are nearly as light but are much much stronger, raced with them for 3 seasons with loads of kerb hopping and they are still as good as new.
In my eyes they suit the car better than the TMRs.

Did anyone else ever buy Dymags? Slightly less price and weight than the TMRs, made in good old Blighty and I’ve not managed to damage (or burn) any yet!

I thought Dymag went bust a few years ago?

Yup looks like they went belly up and now are back making motorcycle wheels :frowning:

Do they do em in white Ben?

Lol - if I could get some 5spokes mag style wheels that are easier to clean then I probably would do them white just for the craic
