Spa with Bookatrack

How awesome is Spa, I found it very hard to learn so booked some tuition. Even after tuition it is still daunting. Very fast and technical, some very scary corners too. So that is all the good news for me…
Monday went well and felt after the training I was ready for a better day and improve my lines on Tuesday, however a weird cutting out issue was a bad starta few frustrating sessions till about 11.30. Then fiddle with all the wires again and its fixed, so back in the pits put on the camcorder and I follow an F430 Scuderia down the pit lane, I follow him on the warm up lap and all is going well the pace hots up and he can’t loose me, then coming out of the La Source for the run down to Eau Rouge I change into 3rd and as I hit peak torque the gearbox explodes…
Here is the youtube of it :frowning: Youtube linky

Unlucky Ade :frowning:

Shit - sorry to hear that.

I hope it’s not too expensive!

Well the good news is I drove it home with no 3rd gear 300+ miles it was very noisy :frowning:
Not sure of costs yet, but I also need some upgraded parts as well so I bet it won’t be cheap…

:frowning:

Sadev Sequential?

If it was track only then maybe, but I like it as a road car too much

ouch that didn’t sound good :astonished:

Marky and I just got back at 6 this evening so will cut and post some laps of Spa and the Nordscheleife tomorrow.

The best bit for me on the whole trip was that the GP circuit was open to the puplic last night. 30 Euro got you a 20 minute session along with forty or so other nutters in all sorts of cars like production hot hatches, modified road rockets, bonafide race cars, vintage, Porsche GT3s, F430, 360’s and so on…IT WAS FECKIN MENTAL! No idea of line let alone any idea of the track layout it was crazy. Had it nailed by halfway through tho, so cool the car was awesome. Matty and Sophie from Book-a-Track, Theo the Greek (Cup260, he’s well quick), Marky and I got on for the second to last session. I think Matty had it right when he said he felt like he’d drank a full crate of Redbull and Theo’s first words were “OH MY GOD”. Marky has the only footage as my Cam ran out of battery…, it’s worth seeing and well worth doing. Having to learn a track from scratch in total mayhem is such a buzz…totally totally awesome!

Sounds great I wish I could have made it the reast of the week as well, lucky I had not booked it otherwise I would have been very sad :frowning:

Ade, hope it all gets sorted soon.

Jonny, I got stuck in a jam on the way home and sat for an hour and a half with the engine off  Ah well, had all those memories to reflect on

The GP session was nuts, pretty much full on racing - no rules, no safety briefing, nothing!

Cheers for making it a great one again mate

Ok here are my pics

Ade and Jonny “anal bleach” Fox…

After arriving at Spa there was some snooping in the F1 pit garages. There was a GT race on at the weekend, and as per last year, the lazy buggers hadn’t cleared out by the time we arrived

Here’s the nice chap who handed me the keys to the GTR

Here are some pics…

Some of the other machinery present…

And Mr Bean with his car collection

Sorry to hear about your box mate, hope you get it sorted.

Sounds like you all had a great time!!!

Here’s some of my laps…

Turns out I was doing between 3:09 and 3:21 from the footage (obviously no timing on the day)

My car is an S 220 with Gotham (so 250) and Ohlins. Standard brake pads and discs, and part worn A048’s.

Likewise some of mine, two following Marky. Obviously not timing either but I’m guessing lol  between 3:08 and 3:20 and I haven’t even got a Supercharger    SPA LAPS

And again following Marky on the Nordschleife. I’ll be honest there was a second lap where he just fooked off taking his big bollox with him    RING LAP

Marky post the GP Circuit up mate, that is well worth watching for those who haven’t done it…totally proper mental :astonished:  :sunglasses: do it!

Posted the GP stuff in the Track Day section Jonny!

PS - Jonny, your driving was hugely improved this year  Much more aggressive but smooth.

Didn’t Ade follow you out the pit lane in your lap above?

Oddly even though there is no timing I’m sure my lap times seemed to vary between 3.04 3.20ish
