Someone inspire me please??

200 road miles and BANG the freakin gearbox explodes
:frowning:

Jubu Gears, some decent oil and an oil cooler.

Mine went 1200 miles from home.

Ex77

3rd gear is made of cheese, get the Jubu gears ftted

Sorry to hear that.
Put’s all this squabbling over charge cooling on the backburner for a while.
I’m thinking of the Jubu 3rd 4th final drive solution plus gearbox cooler. Probably cheaper top do it before mine does likewise.

I have a shed load of spare gearboxes here if anyone wants one…

So I guess the short answer is there is no cheap 300bhp as a new gearbox will be required…
Maybe its those 977 torques you have dude?

Sorry to hear that - mine lasted quite a while before letting go.

Having seen the box apart it’s quite obvious the 3rd gear cog is thinner than 1st and 2nd which is why it tends to break. Id Just go with jubu 3rd/4th - should be fine with these gears.

Give transmission solutions (Doncaster) a call. Clive should be able to fix it with jubu gears for .

Any of em working Gav ?

Where is the Audi 6 speed when you need it… I’ve never heard of an Audi gearbox issue…or is there a don’t ask don’t tell policy…?

Haven’t JSR done one?? what’s the cost and are the ratios favourable for a 300bhp car. (I know, I think I saw the thread somewhere)
Trouble is, much as I’m Lotus through and through and I love the car, with that sort of money spent the letters GT and RS start to come into my head.

I have been speaking to John today and I have to say this has thrown up a few questions for me.
It seems getting my car to 300bhp could be quite simple but the cost of the Audi/honda gearbox conversion throws a spanner in the works and I would be more tempted to go V6…
I know all about the Jubu gears and cooler solution but John’s garbox went on the road, after only just being warmed up and not under a really heavy or full throttle load.
The question this throws up for me is that heat cannot of killed John’s box, his car has not even been tracked that often from what I know so this comes down to weak parts.
So if fitting Jubu gears will that (as suggested) just pass the problem on to the net weak spot? Will the oil cooler really make a difference? Circa 3k is a lot to spend to find out something does not work :frowning:

Duhh

Yes!

Put me down for 5 then cos I’ve got a 1000 mile road trip coming up !!

Surely another standard gearbox is going to meet the same end or are you planning on turning the boost down for now ?

Interested in which way you go

What size, the spanner?

Chris ,if I fit a standard box it will be to sell the car after putting it back to a standard 220 …

my gearbox has been fine since the fitting of the jubu gear and I only use the cooler on the track as you really don’t need it on the road

It’s not heat that’s killing 3rd gear, it’s the fact 3rd is weaker (thinner) due to packaging reasons. Mine failed last November just 10miles down the road on a cold morning. The only other failures are the syncros, which are not power related.

No idea if he Audi box was ever fitted, but the ratios are too long for a car generating 300bhp at 8k+. The honda box was a disaster, I’d forget that - Was designed by scuffers. I’m still owed money from geary for the two Honda boxes that they failed to fit!

Just go for the jubu. Will cost circa 700 for the gears, 200 to remove and refit the box and 200 to install the jubu and refurb the box with the new syncros.
