So which intercooler really is best????

I know what you mean!!! And the shite to!!!

Side pods rock!
Thank God somebody does !!!
:astonished:
Note the absence of a roof scoop on the new Mc,Laren…They ain’t stupid !

The roof scoop would work a lot better if it was about 2 foot taller!!!

The extended ‘Cup’ spoiler that slightly overhangs the front window probably does a reasonable job… aside from scooping in hot rad air!
Stolen picture, I am sure moomin will have a couple more of the side pods etc
What’s everyones thoughts on the RLS side scoop feeds? I thought they were a great idea, but doesn’t it restrict air to the air filter and also air to cool the rest of the engine?
Sorry if ive just opened another can of worms lol!!!

I have not seen my engine temps go up since fitting the side pod - scoops , I do have wider side pods I have yet to fit with wider mesh openings also .

So how much for the Marston aerospace cooler?

Neil.
About 2k iirc
Jesus! I hope it’s an amazing bit of kit for that price, will be really interested in the results of any testing.

Neil.

For me it was more important to keep the power I had rather than spend 2k+ on Ohlins or wheels and other mods , I could feel my car losing power on the road when the standard intercooler was bogged down with heat , it didn’t feel like losing 2 or 3hp and more like 20-30hp .
I had already spent over 44k to buy the car and nearly 2k on the exhaust and 1200 on a re map , yeah the intercooler is pricey but so is a charge cooler and like I said I didn’t want to add the weight or lag of one , If it works as promised and solves the Exige S big problem of heatsoak without adding weight then for me it’s money well spent , also if you look what the Porsche owners spend on there intecoolers it’s cheap as chips
Is it worth the money over the Forge ? I don’t know yet without data , who knows the Forge could work just as well .
I can say the car feels faster and has faster throttle response since fitting .

Well I’ve got a Forge of sorts (prototype - 240  ) and would be interested in the data to compare with W2A.

If it’s near W2A performance but with the weight advantage then I might be interested.

The thing about a good chargecooler is you can turn up the power and it can handle it, no matter what A/A you put in place of the stock unit you will never make any more power or have the room to grow…Save your money unless you go chargecooler…

Hey Frank - what’s the limit on A/A do you think before you need to go C/C ?

How does the air get to the air filter if you’ve got a scoop directing air to the IC? Sorry mate not being an arse, just genuinely want to know as I was looking at the RLS kit myself.

Because the scoops don’t fill the side pods and plenty of airflow still gets in , i will try and post some pics in a bit .

This is not scientific, but, there’s still loads of space. RLS suggest you drill the pods supports to allow more airflow, which I’ve done although difficult to see that 2 x 1" holes will make that much difference.
Speaking the the guys at TDI, the biggest restriction is the grill anyway. i must say i like mine the way it is and to melt that rubber stuff out looks a right pain.

I could turn up to help with testing, but it would not be very representative as I run a lot more boost than any others

I’m not biting Frankster  not today

Air/Air forever x
