So which intercooler really is best????

I must say the Forge does not look like pic number 1 however pic number 2 does look very tasty. I am guessing the MMG stage 1 will not look like pic 2 either though?

^^^ are you planning an upgrade m8?

The best pic I could find of the Forge core

The RLS

No it’s fair to say it won’t look like pic 2 but then it’s a quarter of the price !

Where do you find all of these core pics from? is there something your not telling us

Its interesting to see the different cores, you can see the quality of your core over the RLS one.
You must have it bad to pay that much for an IC though :astonished: especially after fitting all of the RLS carbon air feeds to it.
Will it give greater cooling than a CC? what are the benifits of the Marsden core?

Genuinely interested!

I’m with moomin on this.
After all , he spent my money.
There’s no science so far, but it does feel quick. ( gets his coat)

The pics are just off google , like I said I lived intercoolers for months

Ok the story with the Marston core :
After getting a Gotham re map at Essex , they told me I really should fit a C/C system , I then posted on here asking who made the best charge cooler , Steve said to try MMG with there new system , i called MMG to ask about fitting one but Liam asked why I wanted one when he could get me a intercooler core that wouldn’t be cheap but it would be better than anything that’s out there at the mo, the intercooler would be F1 spec and won’t add the Kgs of weight of a wet system .
After posting on here about the intercooler 661 asked me about it and also ordered one , months of waiting and the orders getting pushed back by F1 race teams pushing in with bigger orders and Liam wishing he hadn’t said he could get one , we finally got them .
I had also been talking to Dean Lanzante about all this from day one , he was convinced I was going down the right road after all the testing they did on the Redbull GT3 car, the last email I got from Dean :

"Hi Paul,

All seems about right, Marston and Behr are the best cores and are expensive, are you running air from the roof scoop and the side scoops? The side air runs a little hotter than the roof but not much so all will help, will be really interesting to see what air temp you get, we have not managed better than 35 degrees on track at constant wide open throttle, I would say anything under 40 would be amazing as road cars run between 55 and 60 on an average temp day. we found 1 degree = 1.25 bhp on the dyno.

Let me know and good luck"

So it all checks out and the intercooler should be the dogs !
Also if you look at other forums you can see just how good the Marston cores are :

Anyone running any side air on their car ?
This is one of my next jobs to do , I was going to fab up the pipework myself but if there,s anything already out there I could maybe go that route .

Yep Moomin hass the really light stuff set up, very cool but very .
I really do like the route moomin (+661) has gone with this, maybe one day when wedding has been paid for. I guess it all depends how much better than the Forge per something like that would be.
I do like air to air, I think it sits more with the way lotus wanted the car.
The forge is great and makes a big improvement over OEM, I cant see the RLS being much different but the Marsden core looks on another level engineering wise.

Boothy

Stolen picture, I am sure moomin will have a couple more of the side pods etc

I was thinking of just using air from the r/h scoop leaving the left one clear for intake air …
Agreed RLS is pricey tho …
I’m guessing less than 30 for the bits if I fab my own …
And NO … I’m not posting any Fookin graphs for you lot to argue over !!!
I was wondering if the side scoop air pressure was infact “high” and not “low” (relatively) as this would defeat the object, but it seems RLS has already done the measuring …
While I’m thinking … the roof scoop is situated at possibly the WORST place on the entire car !! … the same region where the radiator “exhausts” are ?? The exhausts are sited here because air only flows from a high pressure area to a low pressure area , but to site the INTAKE in a neighbouring area with the same properties has more to do with looks than functionality .
I’m not referring to temperatures here ,just air pressure … (Aerofoils lowest pressure point is right about where the scoop and rad outlets are)
Where the ic air intake really needs to be is on the front grille …
Pete 757 will see my reasoning … imagine putting a pitot tube at 1/3 mean chord !!!

Talkin shite again …
Sorry

So how much for the Marston aerospace cooler?

Neil.

About 2k iirc

Boothy , I could send the Kiwi OBD2 I have for you to borrow .
We could do a few WOT runs and post the results on here .
I also have a spare iPhone you can use if you don’t have one .
As we know intercoolers are not Dyno friendly and it would be good to get some sort of on road real life comparable data at last .
It’s just plug and play and really easy to use .

The Marston core MMG intercooler is about 2.5k .

I’d be up for that, I am sure John would too? will his run cooler due to manifold?
I have an iphone4 so all good on that count

Cool , let me know when your thinking of testing it and i will post it to you , yeah the more the better , a standard car and a Charge cooled one would also be good to have .

Yes and yes !

I tried to buy a kiwi the other day but the seller only accepted paypal .
Does anyone know of a UK supplier outside of ebay ?

I know what you mean!!! And the shite to!!!

Side pods rock!
