So which intercooler really is best????

Ok so people are bored and the board is quiet, obviously what we all need is another fight

So the question is Tube and Fin or Bar and Plate? However its not quite that simple as we are talking about fitting in an exige…
The internet is full of information but where ever you look different people have different opinions.
Forge used tube and fin for there IC and the RLS is bar and plate, I am not sure on the MMG?

From what I read a tube and fin IC will heat soke quicker than a bar and plate however it will also cool back down quicker after being heat soked.
I know that Forge found when they tested various designs they settled on the one they used because it worked well with the low airflow from an exige roof scoop and that it cooled quickly after being heat soked. I am guessing that is why they settled on tube and fin… However tube and fin is cheaper so maybe it was a cost factor?

We did find on our dyno day the IC heated up pretty quickly with no airflow which would obviously give a RLS IC an advantage in that situation however would it perform as well on the road and would it drop heat as quickly after getting heat soked?

So what say ye? Oh and are Asda crab crackers better than Tescos?

Soke or soak, tosser?

:tired: NA ROck…s…

I saw a nice chick just across the road at CN,s today

I sent ya a picture!

Not tried the Asda ones .
MMG uses bar & plate on both .
I spent months looking into this , not throwing any buns but the standard tube and fin intercooler is wank and generally tube and fin is used as it’s a cheaper manufacturing process .
There are bar & plate cores and there are bar & plate cores it’s not just a case of tube & fin vs bar & plate .

That was proper funny that picture  …it even made Tap smile!

LOL im missed her John :frowning:

Ooops good point

Whats chic pics John?

Charge cooler arguments are sooooooo boring

Rob

Peskys girlfriend

Note her right leg !!

She,s a stunner Rob …

The question is more how much pressure lost vs. heat dissipation.

The best would be like an Spearco water/air core

EFA

So looking deeper I realise that the std IC is total shite its so lightweight, however the tube and fin does seem to have qualitys that suit the low airflow from the exige roof scoop.
Also some people seem to swear by them as opposed to bar and plate although alot of that is just opinions I guess.
When MMG do the testing are they going to test a RLS IC as well?
When is the MMG stuff going on their website Moomin?
I have not really seen much info on the RLS IC over here. I know one was up for sale on here not so long back as I got the tubes

Spearco…if they are covered in cool water…

How about a nice duck and truffle pate with those crackers…?

Mine is best! end of argument. Nothing to see here

Get to Donny and prove it !!!

Is ‘wank’ a intercooler related technical term ???

As long as the pump is running …Anglesea 2 years ago !

Yes ‘WANK’ stands for: Worst Airflow & Negligible Kilopascal .

I’m not sure what MMG are doing about testing or there website , I know Liam was up to his eyes working on VX cars a few weeks ago .
Here are two pics looking into the intercooler , the first pic is of the ‘WANK’ standard tube and fin one and the next ones of the Marston core bar and plate .
