I would snap her with my tool alright (sorry couldn’t help it)
I think she’d snap your’s first!
ha ha, probs right mate, I know what I am having for my lunch tomorrow
I get my stuff off the van. Get on really well with my Snap On guy (probaly down to the vast amount of cash he gets out of me) but he does give me some good deals on stuff. They have monthly offers and stuff can be half price and its good stuff, not just stuff they can’t sell.
I have the big halfords set in the plastic box that I use for track days. My Snap On stuff doesn’t leave my workshop anymore, as I have had stuff nicked.
I went Snap on beacuse yes it is Automotive porn and the resale vale is so high.
I have the Snap On catalogue in my bathroom, just in case i need some “insperation”
Sean…

Ive got the man with the van coming around tomorrow…oh dear, im not sure its a good idea!
Problem is that just the basic stuff id like comes out at 2500 so im hoping hes going to be in a good mood!
Yes everyone recommends the Halfords kit, the socket set is ddown to 99.00 from 150.00, thats cheaper than its selling for on eBay!
Thats a good idea Sean to buy the Halfords one for track days and keep the Snap-On stuff for home!
Do you want me to get you a new catalogue as yours probably has a few sticky pages by now!!!
Right, got the catalogue from Snap-On, mmmmmm its nearly as good as a porn mag
not just me then - I can easily loose an hour or more just flicking through it!
BUT isnt this stuff fcuking expensive
you have to write it off over the rest of your life - divide the cost by 40 or so and then by 52 and then by 7. If you cannot afford that then there is something wrong!
Anyway, a lot of peeps have recommended Halfrauds 150 piece socket set at the reduced price of 99.99…then I might stock up on some Snap-On bits and pieces including a roll cab with top chest!
Probably not a bad strategy - although I’d probably look at one of their cheaper kits first. Are you thinking of getting a Snap On cab? I’d rather put the money into tools and buy a cheap cab.
Ive got the Snap-On van coming over on Thursday,
Ask him if he has any specials or discontinued lines…
but ive seen this stuff on ebay…do you think its all legitamate or are copies on the go?
not seen any knockoff yet, but remember that Snap On do buy in certain things and they are not the best value for money. Also, people label Blue Point as Snap On - its their economy brand and not really Snap On at all.
Curious. Here, Snap-On were a top shelf brand but everyone has noticed that the quality has slowly declined over the years.
As a comparison - What’s the opinion on the Euro brands like Facom, Beta, USAG?

So do I. I find the price list to be the best laxative yet known!
I buy Facom whenever possible and sometimes Beta, both seem to be excellent quality (as far as I or anyone with that mystical ability to determine the quality of tools just by looking at them, can tell) and both carry the lifetime guarantee like snap-on does. Anyone else had much experience with them?
I have always used O.P. - they are cheap, easily obtainable and if one breaks, you can ask anyone for a replacement!

My catalogue doesnt have a price list in…but yours does?
the price list comes as a separate leaflet and you cross reference on part number.

When i ordered the catalogue they said i’d have to check their website for prices!
Got the van coming tomorrow, why am I so excited?
ask him to do the thing with the needlenose pliers and a 2p piece - that’s if they still do it!

Ok I know im going to get shafted on the prices but i will assure him that he wont find even two pence up there!!!
I didnt realise Paul Daniels was a rep for Snap-On these days!
What exactly happens with this 2p???
ask him to do the thing with the needlenose pliers and a 2p piece - that’s if they still do it!
Isn’t that technically illegal, treason or something?!
Ian

Well the only thing he did was show me the same prices that are in the catalogue…not a penny difference, not even for cash!
So whats my incentive to buy from him instead of buying direct from the sales department?
Or is it because im not a business and he doesnt think im worth bending over for, as it were!
\
that’s a shame on the pricing…did you get anything at all. Its always better to handle the merchandise and much easier to get carried away.
No I didnt but anything as I wasnt sure if he was trying to stitch me up!
I’ll make a few more enquiries as to the prices before taking the plunge…or check out Ebay!
one technique to try and wring a good discount out of them is to spend a decent amount of time looking and trying out tools and pile them all up to one side. At the end resort the pile into those that you are interested in and then ask him to add up the cost. If that is the list price ask him what the discount is for the bulk order.
If he has invested quite a bit of time in you and thought he was getting a big order he may be willing to give you a reasonable discount rather than see you walk and to have wasted all that time and effort.
