Sir Stirling Moss

Morning fellas,

Last Sunday, I was lucky enough to be at a open day where Sir Stirling Moss gave an hour and a half of his time to tell us of his life experiences.

Whilst he was there I managed to get a cheeky signature on my steering wheel with my build number. Have any of you got a signed steering wheel…or other parts…by any car legends or is it just me that is that sad??

No I used to be really sad to. Used to wait at the main gates at Silverstone for F1 drivers to come out after test days. I guess my best item is a Marshalls bib from 1998 with nearly all the drivers signatures on it took a long time to collect. It’s framed now and just hangs there on the wall in my small office.

Nothing sad about that, what a good idea! Sir Stirling is very cool, I bought his book and got that signed. I was also there last weekend and was lucky enough to have lunch with him afterwards (thanks to Michael H) he’s a true gentleman, tells it like it is/was and with real humour.

I did see your car outside, it certainly didn’t look out of place against all the other exotica that turned up!

Excellento, well done

I was once given a bag of salted peanuts by SeanB & RussT

Yeah we got his book signed too…we decided against the rare option of being unsigned  He was indeed…I bet that was one lunch to remember.

It it one serious place they have there…the better half reckons it is one of the finest collections in the UK…did you go in the Exige too?? Would have been good to finally meet a fellow exiger!!

Anyone with even the slightest interest in motorsport would find it hard not to find him a true gentleman and a legend!

Met him back when I worked for Marcos, (second time round) a proper nice bloke. Not bad in a motor either

I would guess they’re the tops as far as Jaaags go! I took my baby Elan which looked even more miniscule than usual in their car park.

That’s not the usual way that Russ likes to give out a sack full of somthing salty is it Pesk?..

:astonished:

The best I have is after winning a Class B Elise trophy race a few years ago. Emerson Fitapaldi awarded us the trophies and I got him to sign my winners cap.

I’ve got Eddie Ervines helmet if that counts

Also got a few Lance Armstrong signed bits

Is a replica Gilles Villeneuve GPD sad enough?

My claim to fame is my race car having been driven(tested) and signed by martin donnelly

Bruno Senna last year at Goodwood FOS , all i had on me for him to sign was a 5 folding chair i got from south mimms services on the way , top bloke , he also got Karun Chandhok to sign it .

I’m not entering this competition…

Don’t worry Mike, no one will think you’re bragging/showing off. It would be great if you would share some of your stories/experiences, so please go for it

How did you manage to win ? … did i not turn up

How did you manage to win ? … was I disqualified [/quote]

EFA

Lol, probably asked for that

I’ve spoken to the Queen… Does that count?

Got Sir Stirlings signature on a sunvisor somewhere. Was at LeMans in 1966 yes 1966,he was parked next to us and his battery had gone flat.I had the pleasure of chauffeuring him around to get some jump leads. As a thankyou he gave us some passes which gave us access to the pit area and the press /tv building. Was a unique experience.Think he was driving a 230 SL.
