Shocks for S1???

What are the options and whats everyone opinions?

Ohlins?
Nitrons?

Oh god this could rage on for a while…
At the end of the day try and go in a couple of cars and then see how big your bank balance is

Direct replacement for the standard Konis - Nitron single way adjustable would be the tried and tested route.

Upgrade for track work - as Ade says - pay yer money and take yer choice - what spring rates etc … huge choice.

Money no object I would choose Ohlins from JSR as I have driven that set up and its sublime.

In between there are a load of choices including Quantam - and they are purple so much better than anything else

are there any site that will list all avaiable shocks?

thansk in advance!!

Also, i see some use GAZ coilovers?any opinions on those?

Yes, don’t!

Stick to Nitrons or Ohlins.

If you want to save some bucks, go for the Nitron Street Series mate! Similar price to GAZ and they are a GREAT damper with height and rebound adjustment too!!

Or, stretch a bit more and get the NTR’s… you will NEVER look back!

Remember, Nitron have an ‘Open Day’ on April 9th too!!! :sunglasses:

I put gaz on mine as at the time cost was important.

Most of my miles are done on the road in yorkshire where a disco is about the only motor strong enough to deal with the roads.

I’m also not Ayrton Senna so i have convinced myselt i couldn’l tell the difference anyway…

If i could justify it i think i would look at Ohlins. My mate raves about em an has just ordered the same for his new GT3!

5.5k was the figure I think he quoted (cost price) … ouch!

Hi, is the Ohlins this one http://www.roadandtrackbyohlins.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/ohlins_prodnews_201012_rt-auto_lotus_elis-exige_1.pdf or is the JSR one another setup? Where in UK (or continent) could I get a set of Ohlins?

However, if 5500 is the quote, I’d better invest in trackday and training first

Thanks :- )

5.5k is a bit steep for some shocks…

Yes JSR does Ohlins. Give John a call as they are no where near 5.5k

what are the price range now for Ohlins and Nitrons…it seems that everyone say differently.

Nitrons depend on spec and spring rates (helper/tenders/ eibachs are extra, standard nitron springs are crap) Dave is always worth a call for nitron http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/suspension-and-steering.html?p=2

Nitron street series 695
Nitron NTR 1194 and up depending on spec
Nitron 46mm pro 1434 and up depending on spec
Quantum (eliseparts) 1554 (includes helpers/tenders)
Ohlins (JSR or aurok) no idea sorry

all the above are rough prices with the dreaded VAT

A quick google and they are easy to find

The price Middo has quoted above are for single way dampers only.

Rough guide on prices for new Ohlins - (prices are all +vat)

S36DR1 (36mm, single adjustable) 500 each
S36HR1C1 (36mm, 2-way adjustable) 650 each
S36HR1C2 (36mm, 3-way adjustable) 820 each

The factory do the 2-way 36mm kit for the lotus S2 elise/exige for approx. 2000 +vat

S46DR1 (46mm, single adjustable) 530 each
S46HR1C1 (46mm, 2-way adjustable) 680 each
S46HR1C2 (46mm, 3-way adjustable) 850 each

I have one set of s/h (but fully refreshed) 36mm 2way Ohlins left for 1300 I can have made up for an S1 if your interested?

my car is with john at JSR at the minute having there own spec 46mm single way ohlins fitted replacing my nitron ntr’s. ive heard nothing but good things about them. my first proper experience with them fitted will be at anglesey though.

Thought you’d got a Radical, instead of the Exige, Chris???

yea i have its phils exige. its that hard to register a new user on here me and phil just use the same account though. sorry for confusing you pesky haha

I was going to go for Nitrons - even had the car provisionally booked in for this Friday, but by the time I’d added Eibach springs and fitting the price came out at nearly l700!
Guy at Nitron also said they don’t recommend the Street Series for an Exige and hence they are not listed on their website.
Anyway I’ve decided not to bother and fitted a towbar to my everyday car instead so the drive to Anglesey will be more comfortable!
