Shocks for S1???

you wont go far wrong

what sort of ride difference between 46mm and 36mm??

If you don,t mind how much are JSRs Ohlins or do you have there number handy.

JSR’s number is 01384 240890

The dampers are roughly the same price as Gav has said.

There is a slight increase in cost buying them from us, due to only using Eibach springs, as others can rub on the subframe at the rear due to thicker coils causing a squeak, and having rear helper springs and middle platforms.

Give us a call to discuss on the numbers below.

Ohlins?
Nitrons?

On the Nitron side you can start at about 579.00+vat for the street series (full set)
The 40mm NTR’s go from 995 + vat (extra for helpers and eibachs)
Right thru to the excellant and latest 46mm dampers
These start at a very reasonable 1195 + vat with Nitron springs and no helpers (one ways)
The top 46mm one way is 1395 + vat but come with Eibach and helpers etc (only 348.75 each plus vat)
The three ways are more money and not necessarily need unless racing etc!!
See them all here

So what is the difference between the sizes of dampers and is there a difference that would be noticed by a normal driver?

Why do you need helper’s ?

And don’t forget fitting and a full geo setup / corner weighting!
to get the best out of your shiny new bits!

Shiney wishbones
new bushes, ball joints.
magic tree

Ah the most important bit

At full droop Marc, the rear spring length just becomes unloaded so the helper stops that happening. Does not become active during ‘normal’ driving however!!!

Having had 40mm NTR’s before my 46mm NTR’s I can say that the latter is much more track orientated… they are quite a bit firmer on the road with more aggressive damping. The 40mm’s are just amazing on the road and are mega compliant. Very good on track as well!!!

Hmmm I run Gaz on my s2race car without helper’s do you think it would make it any better ?

Is your droop big enough?

Lmao

In very simple terms the larger piston moves more oil for a given damper movement.
This allows the valving to control the oil more consistantly for those very small movements. This in turn leads to a more compliant damper if all other things remain equal.

OR

BIGGEST IS BEST…If you cant fight wear a big hat etc etc etc

yes but are you running the same spring rate and valving on your 46’s as you had on the 40’s or have you changed them for something stiffer?

road or track the 46mm’s are always going to be a better damper it just depends on how you have them set up to start with…

Two comments:

  1. Are the originals not still available from somewhere?

  2. Anecdotally, Nitrons seem to suffer a high failure rate on the adjustments bezels & are high maintenance in terms of needing regular rebuilding.
