Long story short, previous sensible car went pop and I’m looking for a replacement. Sub 10k budget, interesting to drive and look at as well as relatively ecconomical (over 30mpg on a run).
I’m just lacking inspiration in what seems a dull market sector.
Just as a start I’ve had a look at the latest shape civic type r’s as an all rounder.
2 doors is fine, normally just myself and the Mrs in it. The clio looks fun but the interior looks a little suspect on the styling front. Will take a look at the Cupra R, probably a prefered size too vs the clio/corsa.
i have have had a 57 plate type R from new its good car but you will be lucky to get 30 mpg, with the misses driving she only
gets about 27-28 mpg hope that helps you
Up to 82 mpg on a run in me Yaris derv … But no street cred whatsoever !!
Keep getting cut up by all and sundry…
Then they get a shock at roundabouts cos it handles ace being just over the weight of the Exige
Good to know about the real world mpg of the civic, can never trust the manufacturers claims. The Z3M is the wacky racers herse looking thing? Not so sure on that and surely knocking on a bit too?
Dc5 has been on my list for a while but I suspect its a bit commited as a everyday motorway car? And as mentioned knocking on a bit now.
Does anyony know anything about the BMW 135i? Totally blows the budget but it seems to tick all the other boxes with the added bonus of being able to produce 350+bhp with a remap! I’ve also been told it will easily do 30+ mpg on a motorway run, more with the remap.

I wouldnt say so, get a stock one and it will eat up the miles no problem at all. Definately the Honda to get on a sub 10k budget
As an alternative if you’re into your old german metal and fancy something relatively depreciation proof then I stumbled across this dealer. If I did not have three kid seats to worry about then that E34 M5 would be mine.
[quote=Benja]I’m with Terry a DC5 would be a great 2nd car.
