S2 NA + Mods

If you can and haven’t already, do the oil pump gears, they are the first failure point when revving higher

or save lots of money and mega hassle, have it supercharged.

You’re forgetting jonnyfox ’s tag line though… NA rocks!

I like being different… and I love NA

I remember the end outcome for jonnyfox!!!

Yep, it’s a definite concern - but it’s not like an SC version is without random failures either. If everything goes pear-shaped down the road I’ll stick a K20 in it and call it quits, but in the meantime I’m excited by my NA creation, and I love the fact that it’s so rare

Who could honestly watch the 220HP, Naturally Aspirated, 790KG Ti Racing Exige and not think it’s a thing of wonder!?!

The engine is out!!!
(and they’ve already found lots of stuff wrong that is the result of the local Lotus Dealer’s handiwork) :frowning:

Oooo do tell!

The accessibility of your alternator terminals right now makes me angry

LOL!! I did actually think “Should I ask them to put a new alternator on while it’s in pieces?”

They had no prior knowledge of who had done what to my engine, but pointed out to me that the ‘gearbox wasn’t very tight on the engine’ and the ‘clutch not torqued up’. Both of these were done when the Fidanza flywheel was installed by the Lotus dealer and haven’t been touched since. Pretty disappointing really, but at least it’s been spotted before anything bad happened :frowning:

I may have accidentally asked Track-Group to try to sort me out a KAAZ gear set and LSD while it’s with them…

Crikey lad, now we’re talking!!

Bit of an update: Track-Group have taken off the head, the bottom end is in very good shape and they’ve spent time cleaning (hot wash and mild vapour blasting) the head and porting it a little… it’s getting reassembled and engine dyno-tuned next week. In the meantime, the gearbox is being rebuilt with the KAAZ gearset and Quaife ATB LSD… Super -exciting stuff!!

Here’s a couple of pics…

You are certainly dedicated to the NA cause!

Someone has to be, after all!

Besides, I can’t drive this car fast enough around a circuit to need even more power yet…

Great stuff, I’m looking forward to seeing this play out. Kudos for going a different way, I think you’ll end up with a bit of a beast

Thanks very much mate! Looking forward to playing with you guys on track one day - even if I’m forever moving over for you on the straights

Just picked up my car today! Had a fairly ‘easy’ drive back in an effort to break things in gently (gearbox and LSD-wise, as the engine has already been run-in on the bench at track-group)…. Have to say though… it feels really naughty! It’s a punchy, zingy motor and it seems to have an explosive top end now - really frantic! I think the gearbox is possibly exaggerating things too - the whole package feels like a boat-load of fun! I’m at Donny in a couple of weeks so I’ll let you know how I go!

Incidentally, it came out as 210bhp on the same bench as jonnyfox got 231bhp (apparently I’m limited by inlet manifold and throttle body at this point) and this was confirmed on the hub dyno at RRR afterwards - both on very hot days  At 860KG, 210bhp and close ratio gearbox, it feels like a seriously quick little thing on the road! Will see how that translates to track

Here’s a shot of the engine back in the car with its track-group plaque

Seriously impressed with the attitude and workmanship at track-group

Excellent, glad you’ve got it turned around so quickly.

Which Donny are you at? Is it the LoT evening session?

Friday 25th, Circuit-days open pit lane day

I’ll check my diary

jk, stupid family trip.
