Looks like I was wrong, the S1 at Knights is now listed as sold. It has gone pretty quickly so it must have fetched pretty close to the rumoured 35k asking price!
Being a dealer it would of been pretty much at the asking price, they barely negotiate especially that early into sale cycle and after having pumped some cash in.
In terms of market prices, Exige are a Ā£30k+ car now assuming tidy condition. Iāve found the 2015 Edition of the Classic Car Price Guide which features everything 1945-2000 to be pretty much on the money with everything when Iāve been looking at things I have an interest in and its guide to the Exige is;
Excellent Ā£36k
Good Ā£27k
Average Ā£23k
Project/Rebuild Ā£15k
However I have found it interesting that the 340R has stayed routed to the same Ā£25-28k bracket, I guess just too niche, though I REALLY want one, just lacking the funds to make that happen
If you sell your Exige then you can get the 340Rā¦
My Exige is a permanent fixture. I waited too long to get one, I just like looking at the market, I definitely brought it to enjoy. Iām greedy Iād like a 340r as wellā¦
I havenāt given it much thought and I canāt see myself selling my car once itās finished but I wonder where itāll fit into those figuresā¦ 52k VHPD crated, VVC/Emerald turned VHPD say less than 5k once bedded in, Lotus Sport Ohlins, complete refurb inc respray same colour and retrimā¦
Itās got Ohlinsā¦so I reckon only about a tenner.
The quality of your rebuild thread must add Ā£5kā¦
Shut youāre cake hole Dave
What Ā£40K James?
i would say around that mark yes
deffo mid to upper 30s
My car is wholly original, it has new Nitrons and an Emerald ECU, but i only see those as a bonus. Mine is lowish miles, has had a full paint refresh, full suspension refresh, powder coated parts and new components etc etc. that said it is still a 14 year old Exige so its never going to be an Aston Martin for build quality, but I value my car circa Ā£35-38k. Could be pipe dreaming but thatās my outlook.
As with most, its not for sale either way, it just cheers me up to look and see that as long as i keep on top of things i can continue to enjoy it and it should continue to creep up in value, which after a lifetime of owning cars I have lost Ā£000ās on makes me feel good!
I remember Pesky once saying he would let his go for Ā£100K
I have no idea if that figure was realised, or achieved with the offer of a GT3
LOL
Said back in the time I was doing 10 to 15 trackdays a year & to replace the Exige with something that would give me as pleasure/fun/smiles I would have needed Ā£100k.
Thinking about it, nothing would have changed now, if I was still doing that number of trackdays
Still contemplating putting Shrek on PH.
Wondering now if Ā£35k is too cheap.
Only my opinion but I think the quality of your car and the desirability of that colour it would be absolutely at the top of the market, Ā£38-40k for me.
The Yellow one went circa Ā£35k and not as desirable as yours
How high can an S1 go? V6 Exiges are selling in big numbers (in comparison) and in a year or so they will be under 40k. Who will pay mid 30s for an S1 when they could have a V6. As much as I like my S1 I would go for a V6 if I was new to Exige buying.
Cant agree more, us owners of course wanted the price go upward but i doubt it go up that much up to 40K+, If i m new potential buyer i will get the new Exige V6 for similar price soon no doubtā¦
well whoād want a 964 RS over a 997 GT3, price says otherwise though
V6 is a completley different car.
The Exige S1 represents the end of the analogue era and couldbe the last real sport car without any driver aids of any kind ā¦ funny that I appreciate mine more for that now I have the V6 ā¦
