S1 Exige Honda

Hello chaps,

As some of you may be aware I put my beloved S1 Exige into the trusting hands of Andy and Wayne at Sinclaire’s to have the SC Honda fitted and have eagerly awaited its return.

Now i have stopped enjoying it for the past few weeks and lived haha I thought id post some pictures up as i am sure some of you may be interested:

I may see you soon on some track days when I can afford the tyres once the credit card has been cleared a bit…

I have used these pictures to send to the insurance company to get my agreed value sorted so apologies if some of them are repetitive…

You can see from my profile page the current list of modifications, the only mod that has not been fitted yet is the rear part of the charge cooler which should be completed in approx 4-5 weeks by sinclaires…

Finally then, a massive thank you to all that participated on the car at Sinclaire’s, its an amazing car that i will enjoy hopefully for many years to come!! You are all an absolute joy to talk to and always very helpful and informative when needed…

Managed to do 500 miles in my first week after getting it back, its sooo much fun

Hope your enjoying yours also buddy!

Haha, i have to admit i didnt specifiy what sort of vinyl design i wanted so i let Sinclaire’s do what they wished with it. I was expecting the sinclaire’s vinyl’s on there but not all of the honda ones… Saying that, although it is very in your face i think the guys did a great job… Will probably go for the stealth look eventually but for now i quite like the race car like finish

Lol I’m having my car Katana’d by them at the end of the year I’ll bare all this in mind. I had stripes til fairly recently, lasted a whole month before I’d ripped them off! You car looks ace.

Have you got a dyno print out for all that lot?

Do like that very much

A quality fit on the cage and the side vents.

Have you got a dyno print out for all that lot?

I do, same output as the other sc honda installs at present, just waiting for the charge cooler to go in then i’ll be having another dyno print done, be around end of august…

Thank you very much

Cage was a pain to fit apparantly, great end result in my opinion though

What is the output then? Its just that Sinclairs have a range of installs so not sure they are all the same?

Was yours dyno’d at TDi?

I’ll have to check once home buddy, i know sincs and other honda conversion companies have used a number of rolling roads in the past which can give upto a 10% difference on the installs figures depending where they are done. The same spec installs are all very similar in power if done at the same testing station apparantly… Few bhp here and there for a better breathing exhaust system etc… Mine was done by a chap called dan, i’ll have to check what company he belongs too… Believe it was around 273 @ the wheels and 178lbs but I know exactly the same installs have produced 290bhp at the wheels and 200lbs at other places so not sure how these can be that different, must be the rolling stations and how they calculate I guess… All I know is that its rather quick

Once the charge cooler is fitted i have been advised by a number of chaps that have had it done to date that power increases to around 340-350bhp with around 250lbs, not sure where they had the rolling done though… will be nuts tho im sure!!

Been informed car went to lakeside, thurrock so it must be tdi they took it too… figures sound about right, chap i know just had a charge cooler fitted and tested there and produced approx 305 @ wheels, 343 hub, mine is approx 273 wheels, approx 315 hub…

I have a plot from TDI for a sinclairs SC install - is it yours? Or if they are all pretty much the same will be the same as yours?

http://www.dyno-plot.co.uk/dyno/dynoplot/id%3D514%26but_sea%3Dqs/Lotus-Exige-Sinclairs.htm

The IC install can’t be one of sinclairs though as they don’t have an IC solution yet was my impression from your post?

I havent uploaded mine but similar, that car is 245.7bhp and 172lbs, mine is 273bhp and 178lbs so not all that different (245bhp for a sc install is abit surprising though?!? think that maybe the wrong figure?!? seems restricted to me somewhere…?

There are so many ways to read these dyno plots and they only get remotely close to comparison if they are both DIN or SAE corrected, even the gear they are taken in can make a huge difference. Around the ball park of 270hp at the hubs is 300-310 at the flywheel.

Silly isnt it! Should just be one calcualtion for all dyno’s / rolling roads and that would avoid all the confusion!

Whatever it is its rather nippy

Thats why I linked to a RR plot from the same Dyno (TDI) also DIN corrected which will match your plot so will make for a good comparison.
