rubber pipes coming from inlet manifold broken?

Can anybody tell me what the small rubber pipes coming out of the inlet manifold and going to a “regulator” on drivers side and disappearing into the depths on the nearside…
One of the plastic T joints has broken,…is it critical ?? where do I get a replacement?
thanks
PS have a pic but dont know how to attach to the forun thread .( Oh yes I Do !! [image]http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c165/cliveagyoung/Brokenpipe001.jpg[/image]

Had this happen on mine too, if we’re talking about the same thing there’s 4 of them in a line? Don’t think they’re too important tbh, didn’t seem to hurt not having one for a bit anyway. Got a replacement from halfords (think it’s a windscreen washer part), and some new pipe from the local scrappy.

/EDIT/ just seen your pic now, we are talking about the same thing, halfords will sort you out, 1 quid (ish) each IIRC. Replaced all mine at the same time as the others were getting pretty fragile too when I looked at them.

Thanks for that good advice “PeterField”
Cant really see what pipe does unless its to do with emmisions etc.
Cheers

If you have the std ECU it’s critical for the fuel being delivered because it’s a vaccum line that controls the fuel pressure.
On the other side it goes to the charcoal canister, so it’s irrelevant.

But unless you plan on an Emearald and removing the whole thing, you’d need to fix that.
I have my original ones, but as mentioned you should be able to source out a cheap one from Halfrauds easily.

agree with Uldis

its used to control fueling so without it you will run weak or rich mixture, so you need to fix it if running standard ecu set-up.

Sounds rather more important than i’d suggested then, should’ve said i’m a complete mechanical numpty, sorry.

Deffo worth getting it fixed asap MrBean.

Off to Halfrauds right away.
Thanks guys…

alternatively drive around at full chat all the time because i think with this broken pipe, the regulator will run at 3bar all the time

When my car was upgraded to the 190 spec, these were part of what came out:

[image]http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d121/stevegreen101/01-03-17190UpgradeTakeoffItems006.jpg[/image]

The inlet tracts (which is what the Tee pieces plumb into) are just then joined together with a short length of pipe.

How tidy!

But the 190 kit doesn’t require the removal of those, it’s optional.
In fact, if you did keep the Lotus 190 ECU your car will run awfully rich in anything else than full chat.

Any smell of unburnt fuel by any chance?

But the 190 kit doesn’t require the removal of those, it’s optional.

I think there is an almost infinite number of variations of what the 190 kit comprises of - and that’s just the add on items, never mind the takeoff ones as well!

The work was done at the factory, so I assume that they know what they were doing. I thought the vacuum was only needed for the resonator valve, but it is still connected to the fuel regulator at the other end, so there is no problem with the fueling.

Could someone run me through the take offs please. I guess you get a better burn without the pipes pumping an oily mist in to the engine. If this is the case can anyone advise me how I should go about the removal of the above bits.

just get emerald Fluffy

Does the Emerald do away with all the Bull s**t?

Have a read here first hwww.340r.net upgrade. Most if applicable to the Exige as well as a 340R.

There is plenty to do before resorting to an Emerald, which only replaces the ECU and will leave a big hole in your wallet.

Cheers Steve, I’ll go and have a play. I’ll get back to you and let you know how I got on.

ok, i’m back! Had a quick look and i’ve found the charcoal canister and the vacuum reservoir. What happens to the multi plugs that go to them when they are removed???

Those are the pipes , centre bottom row of your pic. (do you work for Haynes?) Halfrauds and local accessory shop have come up with the bits , I just need monkey fingers to fit it all before the 29th.

I haven’t got my service manual to hand, but will try to check for you tomorrow…I’m guessing that you can just tie them out of the way.

Thanks Steve, the ECU won’t miss the input then. Bloody do gooders trying to save the planet. This could be costing me a bhp.
