Im planning on replacing the backbox on my exige s over the weekend. List of bits to hand are

Stage 3 Exhaust
WD40
Copper Grease

Any other adivise or guides?

Buy some ear plugs…you’ll need them

A locknut on the clamp will stop it coming loose

Elbow grease.

Or anywhere else in the UK, more than likely

Had my tuned vx220 turbo 7years and never got around to tracking it. No plans to track just yet. Got the undertray off this eve (in the garage). Will carry on Saturday.

having no joy with this. I have now been able to remove all 4 rubber mounts (2 each side), have taken the nut off the clamp connecting the backbox to the cat. so the exhaust is now free from the car. I just cant seem to seperate the backbox from the cat. Have used loads of wd40

You will need to try and twist it by hand and tap the box gentley with a block of wood and hammer till it loosens then try and twist it again.

Large mallet or frozen salmon and beat the crap out of it…always work for me.

twat it with a rubber mallet

Did that, just dented the tail pipe :-p am a bit concerned yanking at it, any chance that I could damage anything?

you taken a blow torch to it?

nope :open_mouth:

I would prob end up setting fire to myself.

Those last five posts make my eyes water…What were we talking about again

You can buy freeze spray or better lube than WD40 which does everything but is mainly shit at everything.
Blow torch would be my bet though.

Wouldn’t know what to do with the blow torch, any kind souls fancy giving a hand?

Heat up the outer pipe, this should expand it allowing the inner to slide free.

Air chisel !!
Drive it to me I’ll shift it
