Rear wing replacement.

Looks good!

I would certainly like one but 1100 !

I have a friend in Turkey who makes Carbon Fibre parts for Prodrive, Renault sport, Peugeot sport, New Mini, to name a few.

If there is enough interest out there we could get get some made. Maybe in co-operation with Graham at Plans.

He could maybe fit them ?

Is there enough interest out there to warrant the investigation ?

count me if the price is good

Just received some pictures from Turkey. One item they have just done is a carbon fibre Tub to take all the running gear form an Mitsubishi EVO 9 as a one off for someone. I don’t know how to attach pictures to my post otherwise I would attach.

Here are the details…

The Plans Exige S2 Motorsport Wing is made to the same dimensions as the S1 “Autobytel” Lotus Motorsport wing, by the same manufacturer, but with the mounts to the pylons moved to match the standard fitment.

The wing and end-plates are pre-preg carbon fibre. The pylons are made from high grade aluminium, are CNC machined from solid and can be anodised black or painted to match body colour.

This wing is a straight swap for the standard wing and is much more robust. It is more securely mounted and actually makes a difference, unlike the standard plastic item. The rake of the wing can be adjusted to five different positions.

The wing comes as a complete kit with all fixings for:

Full carbon with satin black pylons: 1169 inc VAT
Full carbon with pylons in any Exige S2 colour: 1299 inc VAT
Full carbon with pylons and the inner surfaces of the end plates in any Exige S2 colour: 1349 inc VAT

Actually, the price is made up of:

a) the carbon wing (this wing alone from Lotus Motorsport - ALS1U0004F -is 905.16 plus VAT)

b) The CNC machined anodised pylons (these are a difficult shape and took a long time to perfect); which make up a lot of the cost

c) a little contribution to our fixed costs

d) an even smaller profit

Cheap wings (for Citroen Saxos etc) are available; but will always look cheap.

Hi Graham, As one of your supporters I wasn’t for one minute suggesting that you were ripping us enthusiasts off. For most of us 12/13 or even 1400 quid is a lot of money for a wing and thought it might be worth investigating if it was possible to get the “same quality” for cheaper and I even suggested in my post that we could include Plans in the project. I am sure you sell a few of these wings but it would be great if you could sell a 100 or 200.

I have checked with my friend in turkey and he told me if we want motorsport quality like the produce for Prodrive we are talking a similar price to the pucker one.

A cheaper one can be produced but I would not be to the same standard and I am sure most Exigers don’t want to put Saxo spoilers on their beloved machines.

So the moral of the tale is you get what you pay for. If you want a proper motorsport wing go and see Graham at Plans, if youn want a Saxo wing go and see Citoen !

Sorry, but having seen Lotus margins on aftermarket parts for the 340R when they accidentally emailed out a spreadsheet which contained the buy in as well as the sell out prices (but that’s a different story!) I would have thought that there was plenty of margin to reverse engineer a top quality product, make a reasonable return and still deliver a healthy price saving to the punter.

From the prices quoted above for Plans, I know where the savings are to be had

Nice pics there. As much as i hate the colour scheme, thats one stunning car

Tim.

are the pylons available seperately, i only ask coz a lot of times we’ve bought CF stuff from across the pond, it arrives broken due to poor shipping monkeys.

could anyone photoshop tarmacs car to see what it would look like in arctic silver?
