Project Satsuma

It was basically Bambi Will :see_no_evil:
I pushed it down the road a bit before I went over it.
Fortunately the drivers light bracket that attaches to the crash box snapped at the thread so the list was

1 x drivers light (although it’s fine actually)
1 x bracket/grille
Fibreglass repairs and paint

The heated windscreen needed replacing so that’s been done while the clams off. New front tow post too.

Oh well, good chance to get the other jobs done. Poor Bambi

So today I had the front clam recoated in Siramik Diamas so the car is back to good health.

I went from this :

Glad to hear now all sorted Rob

Why am I seeing Clive’s car and GT40?

Boyd works out of GT101 who specialise in Ford GT’s; and on the way home from having the front clam ceramic coated I popped in on Clive :+1:

OH! Durrr

COOL AS FECK :sunglasses:

Visiting Clive is a special event.

I had such a great time visiting him last November. A true real gentleman and enthusiast and racer. I was mortified that he insisted on washing my Evira despite my fervant protests! What a man. What a garage! :sunglasses::sunglasses::+1:t2:

Absolutely Pierre. Didn’t know me from Adam; some random Havaiana’s wearing dude rocking up at your house. So welcoming and a thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes talking cars and life. I’ll have to go back for my car wash I think :smile:

I shared the above with my best mate and Engineer Laci, who came with me to visit Clive; where he fell in love with Clives S1 / Robs P3SKY dynorod exige.

His reply today is sooo Lotus / exige right

Eventful day of sorts;

Had a bit of a freshen up of some of the interior courtesy of Steve and Jess at Fulcher Coachtrimmers in Hethersett. Highly recommended and really pleased with their work.

Only small issue was getting there; car kept stalling on start up from cold, required a few revs to keep it alive until it was a little warmer. Fuelled up at Sainsbury’s and you’ve guessed it…turn key and nothing. No fuel pump, lights on the dash on but the dreaded whirrr. Had to do the push of shame away from the pumps and had a root around. Somehow managed to get it to fire and dropped it off to have the trim fitted. Long radio delete panel, top dash panels and binnacle all finished in alcantara; Exige logo embroidered a’la the original.

Car wouldn’t start later that day on pick up despite isolating the battery. Ended up starting it by leaving the trickle charger on it to give it enough crank. Seems the alternator is okay so I best buy another Odyssey

To give you an idea of the work

Ok ok stop copying me

You might want to look into both, I had both go in quick time but on the S2.

Any way of knowing it’s definitely the alternator over the battery? Started the car Saturday, turned it off and left it for 20 minutes. In that time it had lost the ability to crank.

Had a multimeter check on Friday evening between the battery and the chassis with the car running and it was holding around 13.9-14v on idle…so hoped the alternator isn’t goosed…

What’s the voltage now? 13.9v is quite high for a charge so would suggest battery is on its way out.

You could stick the battery on the family wagon and swap the family battery onto the toy…

After some tinkering and talking to Dan (and having purchased a new battery) it appears it’s come down to a faulty battery isolator. All been well problem solved.

Check, wasn’t the isolator; ‘twas a bad earth after finding out the bump start way again.

Fingers crossed things are back to normal…

August 16th last year; I have been slacking but then again I’ve not put a ton of miles on the :tangerine:.

Couple of minor issues in that time, thermostat got stuck shut and the crank sensor failed…both sorted by Dan with zero fuss. It has been plotting its return since then and I’ve had a couple of good drives since which still proves it’s an angry little thing. Still waiting on the 3D printed carbon airbox; it was on its second prototype when the company involved has started printing items for the NHS.

I’ve lost track if I mentioned it but I did a noise test at Snetts last Summer; it was prettttty loud :smile:

Onwards and upwards…

Looking gooD1

3D printer carbon airbox? Sounds exotic!
