Just wondering with what conversions mainly come in at after speaking with JSR John. I can generalise with most modified S2 Toyota cars (and feel free to post up brothers and sisters) but wouldn’t mind an insight into say an NA/SC Honda/Audi S1 or S2. Even a K for that matter… I’ll be honest, when my cars finally ruined  I’d like to achieve 215-200 bhp at 790kg’s. What’s my point? Well it’s just interesting as I guess figures mean more to most despite how humble we approach our cars, yep it’s as shallow as that
Back in the day I had a sparring partner who had a very quick RS2000 … at the time I was an Open Manta fan …
Cutting a long story short … my mate got himself a .GT3 RS …
I then googled to find a quicker car than him !
Yea ,very childish but true …
I figured that an Exige with 300 would put him to rights !
330 bhp /ton is where it starts in my view … owt less is simply not in the realm of fast to me
…and yes … I’m quite aware that a 200 bhp car can trounce me on track with a proper driver
How are you going to get your S2 down to 790 kg!!!
Even my ‘light’ S1 was corner weighed at Nitron at 792 kg with 1/4 tank of fuel! OK, the A/C probably adds about 20 kg total?, but even so, 790 kg for an S2 is bloody light!
Really? My S1 was 764kg stock with a full tank of juice (non a/c). Now down to just over 740 brimmed.
With 215bhp, it’s quicker on track than a 997.2 RS… or at least I’ve never come across one that can keep up over the course of a lap, although they destroy me in a straight line.
Cheers fellas, some good stuff. Pete I was hoping for 800kg but 790kg with half a tank seems very feasible with the amount of stuff coming off mate. Lol I was hoping to be closer to you Dave if I’m honest.
My Honda S1, (which I had down to 737kg) but now with heavy full rollcage, heavy wheels/tyres, heavier sequential gearbox and associated kit, aero bits etc is now 795kg. 340bhp at the hubs.
Soon to be about 500bhp though depending on how much power we think we need, which should give a healthy bhp per tonne figure.
Didn’t think for one minute you’d be humble about it Frank . Where’s the extra power coming from? [/quote]
Just a key stroke away and there’s more boost. Less weight to move around means less load to push around in the midrange, oh and better engine chargecooler cooling…
It must be more than pure power to weight, but power delivery.
A new 911 turbo S was pulling away from me down Lavant straight yet I calculated I had the same bph/tonne as him. It may be due to the way the high end torque is delivered in a turbo car, but possibly also due to the Exige’s drag co-efficient.
Honda S1 SC Exige 341bhp at hubs 815 or 825kg I cant remember with 2/3 tank of fuel.
Orange Car is 542bhp and 890kg I think, although will be more in a couple of weeks with the new set up.
