Pictures of my 60 litre fuel tank...

Yellow Frank??? Did you used to drive it wearing a skirt??

In all fairness, its very very cool. I love RS200ā€™s

Yepā€¦neither of them have written a book!

I have no Idea what that means but fuck it donā€™t take my advice after all itā€™s free.

I always enjoy saying I told ya soā€¦

or a Scuffers on steroidsā€¦

Now Scuffie and I get along and share mutual respect for each others accomplishments rather than the guys that just regurgitate hypothetical BS only to be proven wrongā€¦

One of these days Iā€™ll get my high school diploma and become an engineerā€¦nahh

Frank, everyone has respect for what you have done, theres no doubt about it.

We would have been happy to fit one pump, but advice from the manufacturer of the pumps, and having run this set up for 4 years or so, suggests weā€™re not too far away. Yes, we may be able to get away with one, but modifying the tank to take 2 at a later stage, is far more expensive than building it with 2 at the outset. Would be happy to be proved wrong, but not brave enough to turn one off and find out that its not.

Dudes have a look here and read the fine printā€¦ http://store.radiumauto.com/index.php?p=product&id=51&parent=0

These guys make a great product and test each and every bitā€¦

I totally forgot to mention the 255 Walbro in tank feeder pump on my setup so that could be the reason there is no fuel supply issue with my carā€¦

Still the single feed pressure/volume is more than enough to support the power to 600ā€¦

But ya gotta keep it coolā€¦

Cool man. Have seen similar items in a couple of places now. Even have one on my desk.

Iā€™ll forward it onto Bosch and let them know that they have been doing it wrong all these years

In the meantime, lets agree to disagree on this one

They could use the help since they havenā€™t done any testing on a Lotus or did Lotus for that matter since the tank design has been an issue from day oneā€¦

Iā€™m not arguing with anyone, Iā€™m just letting ya know what works for meā€¦ If ya gonna build a race car you design systems for quick on site service you donā€™t hide them under shear panels and undertraysā€¦

We have to toss out diferent ideas to each other, that how progress is made. There is no one way to do anything but there is a right wayā€¦

Now, THAT, I agree with. If only someone in the Lotus road car design office understood this principleā€¦

Snap, however its gotta go somewhere, and neither are race cars. Iā€™m pretty sure that every car manufacturer has a bastard department. Otherwise perfectly servicable designs go off there, only to have some small item located across it, just so that changing the 20p widget takes several hours!

Iā€™ve run cars with 044ā€™s for far too long, and can probably count on one hand how many failures Iā€™ve had. With probably half of those casused by crud in the tank being sucked up, incorrect positioning or constantly draining the tank and running the pump dry. Weā€™re confident with where they are and what they are doing, and if they constantly need changing, youā€™ll hear it here first.

Far happier than running one,- and please donā€™t take this the wrong way Frank - ā€˜cos Frank said itā€™ll be fineā€™

Now where is the pre-pump filter and is there a check valve at each pump discharge just incaseā€¦?

So to replace a fuel pump you now have to remove the chargecooler and what ever bits are covering the shift cables to remove them before you can remove the shear panel to get to the pumpsā€¦Isnā€™t this funā€¦?

Iā€™m just trowin this crap out there from experienceā€¦

I canā€™t wait to meet you guysā€¦The line forms to the right, itā€™s one at a time and bare knucklesā€¦Iā€™m old

[quote=frank]Now where is the pre-pump filter and is there a check valve at each pump discharge just incaseā€¦? Pre pump filter in tank. Non return valve fitted to the end the of pump as normal, not sure about a check valve, Iā€™m thinking this is a US to UK english thing?? The only check valves I can think of in the fuel system were way back in on the old K Jetronic systems??

So to replace a fuel pump you now have to remove the chargecooler - no - and what ever bits are covering the shift cables to remove them - none - before you can remove the shear panel to get to the pumpsā€¦Isnā€™t this funā€¦? Not sure why you want to remove the gear cables, as the tank stays in to get to the pumps, release bolts and slide to the side. Easier than the OE ones.

Iā€™m just trowin this crap out there from experienceā€¦

See above. Any more, but getting a little bored now  Iā€™m sure we can all poke holes in other peoples work if we felt the need to.

Oh come on now Iā€™m not pokin holes, I hope you know that.
Iā€™m tossin out the bits of information Iā€™ve learned over the years from my past screw ups and there have been quite a fewā€¦

You donā€™t think I Helicoiled most threaded holes in my setup because the bits had to come off and on so many times for fun do you ?
R$D is funā€¦Repairs suckā€¦

Can you post up a pic of the engine lay out, the only Audi setup Iā€™ve seen has been the Pro-Alloy S1ā€¦?

Will if you promise to play nice!!

But not for a day or two though. Customer coming to see it thursday since its just been painted, and he gets to see it first. Only fair.

Duhhh come on I wonā€™t tellā€¦

Dide you remove the boot wall for easy access like Wayne and I did.?

I bet that customer is getting quite excited :sunglasses:
