Phantom Winger Preston meet Sun 23rd March

Thinking about a trip up there tomorrow (say 10am) & then perhaps a run around Ribble Valley/Trough of Bowland.

Anyone else?

Sorry Rob sounds a good idea, but I will be watching Ashley playing football this morning.

No probs Pierre - hope he keeps a clean sheet!

Oh, shame, only just noticed this. And the weather’s fab. It was just the excuse I needed…Won’t be able to join you, sadly.

Yes he did they beat Ibis 6-0

Expensive trip out for me!

Cheshire JobsWorth Plod decides to pull me on M62 just 2 miles into my journey. Asks if I know why he’s stopped me - replied that I honestly didn’t have a clue, bearing in mind I was only doing 60mph letting the fluids warm up, had slowly joined the motorway & stayed in the nearside lane He then tells me that my front number plate is illegal even though letters/numbers/spacing are not trying to be something they aren’t, & that it’s not a problem for ANPR. Only reason was for incorrect sizing of letters & numbers.

Banged up to rights, & given a Fixed Penalty of £100, but fortunately not an endorseable offence.

On a brighter note:

Nice pics Rob.

Sorry to hear of your run in with plod.

Sorry bit short notice Rob but looks a good turn out.

Bad new to hear about plod, have you got smaller plate on the front like mine?

No Steve, mine does not read “697 OK”

It was what is usually known as a “3/4 Plate”. I had an old “full size” at home so I’ve now put that on - Plod said that if you get pulled twice, DVLA has the power to take the Reg Number back into stock!

Here’s a pic taken by someone else at the Phantom Winger, before I changed the plate:

I was just leaving as you arrived Rob, not sure if you noticed it was me?

Sorry Marc - didn’t see/realise it was you - what were you driving?

PS Notice you’ve not booked Anglesey yet!

PPS Coming back to me know - you were in your Yellow GT3, nut it didn’t register at the time, sorry mate.

That plate is on retention at the moment Rob, the one on the S2 has been transferred to Shrek and reads 770 K but same size front plate as yours.

Cheers Steve.

I think I was just unlucky today, but too risky to continue to take a chance, as I’m sure that Mr Plod will not forget to notfy DVLA of my horrendous/danger to society crime!

Correct  I’ll be at Anglesey but not driving sadly :frowning: crankshaft main oil seal has gone on the lotus and I’ve no time to fix!

Did you get a fine? If not just ignore it, he is just putting the frighteners on you, you have to be fined and reported a few times before they can remove the plate from you.

THe car’s looking great Rob :sunglasses: Looks like a great meet, parked next to Sagaris, nice.

Shame about the jobs worth…you gotta be pretty eagle eyed to notice a 3/4 plate and to decide to do something about it… :unamused:

Great pics, Rob, must put this in the diary.
Pity about the deadleg coppers. Time on their effing hands. Tosspots the lot of them.

See, Supercar Sunday . . . .

Yes I did Ade - £100 Fixed Penalty. Plod had made his mind up to do me, so after initially speaking nicely with him but getting nowhere, I just l;et him go through his pathetic routine. Last thing I wanted to do was make his perfect day & see that I was not happy by suggesting he should go after real criminals or drivers who endanger others by tailgating etc etc.

Yep Ben, he overtook me, saw the plate in his mirror & …pounced!
