one for Andy D :)

Reliving my youth

Nice new toy - 66 mk1 1275 mini cooper S.

Very nice, Con :sunglasses:

Brilliant car Con, pre hydrolastic too I reckon. I had a 1967 1275s with hydro suspension, cr sc gearbox, LSD, 45 Weber on swanneck that intruded into the passenger area - I could make fireballs to order on overrun to frighten many a poor passenger. Blew it up doing just short of the ton, couldn’t afford to put it right (poor student at the time) and sold it for 125 :frowning: - I swear that it was the most fun car, Exige excepted, that I ever owned  - have fun…

Thanks guys
it’s on hydro Simon which is new to me having owned a number of dry suspension minis in my time.

Funnything is that I looked at a few before buying this one and spent ages trying to find a nice original one  (no k series v Honda comments guys - and that does mean you Clive  )
now that I’ve got it though must resist the temptation to modify it too much

Damn you  Nice buddy.

Great, another reminder I really should do something with mine. :frowning:

Looks nice Con, my 1st ever Mini was a 1965 1000cc Island Blue Mk1.

There is a Mini Cooper Register meet in Eathorpe, 4th Tuesday of the month.

LOL - Beths already asked if I’m going to join any geeky mini clubs ā€œlike the lotus ones you belong toā€

whereabouts in eathorpe mark - be rude not to pop along as it’s so close by

Cool man!!

Con … perfect, right colour, right year … everything I would want in an S … I trust it smells right as well :sunglasses:

Purchased at the right time as well I think …

smells just as you would imagine it Andy

its a top little car. very original and well known within the cooper register. original shell, engine (how funny is that a Honda boy typing that LOL), box & factory recliners.

Got a few tasteful upgrades but trying to resist putting the full cage that I’ve had for years from my racing days in.

I’d resist the cage but would be tempted to fit period mods to the Hydro.
Can remember road rallying a Hydro Mini and I think it only took two stages before the co driver was sick

Well, maybe change to larger SU’s, LCB, RC40 … damn yes its too easy to get caught up in modding a Min

No idea what you paid Con but this should make you feel smug

Keep promising myself another Mini - must resist…

TwinChoke Webber sticking out through the speedo binnacle…Cool or should I say HOT.

A friend used to race one in the 60’s…we spent one night with a tank-cutter making ā€œlighteningā€ holes in the rear bulkhead…saved about 2 ounces…Phew

tax free too

Agreed, only real coopers had sliding windows, and even then they should have round rear lights and rubber suspension  .

That Mk3 should be whte only not 2 tone and those seats are totally wrong plus what’s happened to the rad surround.

and the RH tank is poor copy, not original as well

Had two Coopers (not S though), one a 1965, green with black roof, was a bit of a disaster( cracked, leaky sump), The second, a 1969, Mamba wheels, black centres, polished rims. Stuck out a mile from body until fitted spats. Great car.

Sorry Con couldnt resist posting these memories

Find the 5 differences:

They didn’t even bother making a own TV commercial. Now a blue, red and white Lifan 320 (The last in the bunch) are chasing each other through some streets doing fancy handbrake turns…seen that before…

I can deliver you all one for a good price

The bottom 2 are fugly!!! what do I win?
