Yes falling into the moding trap is easy, We bought a Mini on Ebay when we were drunk It failed its MOT miserably so we got hold of a better shell and basically built it from scratch 12K later 
We recently sold the little beast so we could focus our efforts and money on the Exige
Never could keep up with my Hillman Imp … Stiletto head + cam…bigger carb + peco exhaust lol…
