Oil cooler pipes recall

Well where are my prizes then?

I don’t think there were any to be fair? Everyone agreed from early on that the coolers and their fittings were going to cause them some issues, it’s not rocket science.

Anyway, congratulations on your, err, umm, win??

No further questions your honour…

May it please the court… :open_mouth:

Got my letter today - has anyone checked whether they’ll cover the cost of an indie doing this ?

My nearest dealer is 100 miles of road and 100 miles of water away.

General and understood opinion is main dealer only.

Mine is being done by a Lotus Service Centre, Statstones. Hoses came off but the couplings on the cooler are damaged so they have gone to Lotus for a new cooler, all at no cost. It will take a few days to get the cooler.

Stratstones have been informative, done exactly whist the said they would do and are fitting my big brake kit whilst the clam is off (clam is off to fix the cooler).

Given that my car is nearly nine years old and is used as Chapman intended I am so far very happy with the way it is being handled by Lotus and Stratstones.

Booked in today. They say it’s NOT a clam off job???

Mine was the first one they did and they left the clam on but after speaking to the manager it looks like the rest will be done with the clam off

I didn’t get a letter, but checked the VIN and just booked in at B&C for early December. Definitely a clam-off jobbie for them, and they asked to leave it with them overnight. New tow post going in for the hell of it, had a new rad earlier in the year. Asked for an Exige V6 courtesy car - no harm in asking, right?!

It will cost you money if you have the V6 courtesy car though, as you will want one

Hi Rich,
B+C here too, but the service manager said clam on??

I had a look at one being done at my local dealer on sat prior to mine going in next week. Without clam off looks a bit of a challenge to get good access to undo the unions on top of each cooler, both for removal and to re-tighten and the cross over pipe between the two coolers would be hard to access, mine will be done with clam off.

Ha! Probably true!

I guess we’ll find out in December! Seems a bit tight space-wise if they just do it on a lift, but I guess it might be possible.

Just realised that I’m not likely to have a market for the oil coolers that are coming out of mine in favour of Laminova. You’ll all have had them changed under warranty

I have a spare driver side and pipes I am no longer going to be able to sell either LOL

You think you all have problems?
I have about a dozen of so new oil coolers in stock…
How long before Lotus no longer have stock and they are on back order. not long I hope.
Better start looking at what the retail price is from lotus and carry out some price realignments!!!

That’s mine done, great job by Allon White Sportscars, clam off, all came apart easy enough, had a stainless tow post fitted same time, sorted!

Anybody had this job done at the factory. If so. Have you got a contact?
