We’ve (LoT) got another day booked there on Monday the 30th October.
Count me in !! by the way Mark you have a picture of one of my old cars on your website (580FMO) from the days when i used to be a mini anorak
Evosal - that is quite some car you have! Sounded like the god of thunder! Seriously fast.
when i used to be a mini anorak
And now you’re a big one!
First thing out and the only negative of the day, was that they positioned hude straw bales on the edge of the track at the hairpin. These were for the bikers, but for the cars, they were on the rumble strips and actually intruded onto the tarmac. Made it very, very slow round there - frankly a clam demolition waiting to happen. Everyone was cornering there at less than snail’s pace as a result. Certainly a second or two a lap lost and totally messed up entry into barn. But hey, trackdays are for fun and nobody hit the bales. Mission accomplished. :yes
These ones:

they weren’t there in March and then appeared on a trackday in June…I thought they had left them there by mistake…sadly it looks like its a permananet addition!
I think they do come and go - yesterday the edges of the bales were actually inside the rumble strips:

Not good! 2 foot further out and noone would run over the grass and they wouldn’t be an accident waiting to happen.
I heard someone speaking to the marshals about the straw/hay bails on the track. The reason was that they had put them out ready for the bike practices and the racing which was strating on the following day. With regards to removing them after a few complaints, he suggested that due to the fact that on that corner the ground falls away quite steeply into a solid barrier that in the past anyone putting a wheel or two onto the green stuff 9 times out of 10 ends up coming into contact with the barrier. He believed expensive damage on plastic bodied cars !!!
These are the marshalls views !!!
I have to say that after nearly hitting the bails a bit futher back may have been better but then it would only have encouraged more use of the rummble strip !!
They didnt really bother me being there tbh, Cadwell is such a challenging place anyway that a few hay bails placed on the edge of the tarmac at the slowest part of the track just added that little more to it imho…Yes I got close a few times
Yes I got close a few times

Oui Oui, j’ai presque twatted them deux times
2nd lap I went in far too hot, lifted off then hard on the brakes, slide smoke slide - just stopped inches away from one of them - had to use reverse to get going again!!!

Simon - have you looked in the photobucket link I posted at the start of this thread? I recall quite a few photos of your car (and the other orange S1 exige)

The ‘hairpin’ is definately a slow in, fast out corner!!!

Cross post from LoT/SELOC for maximum comedy exposure; Clicky for me shaming myself being unable to refuse a kind offer into Hall bends … right outside the clubhouse where everyone is watching, I had young kids wandering up to me in the pits telling me “nice one mister” and laughing. Yes, its my new “spin the steering wheel uselessly and see where this baby is gonna end up” recovery style.
Brilliant day-enjoyed every second of the dice,Soggster. As you said to me Coppice is just bottle but it sets you up for the whole lap.I grew up in Caistor and saw Hailwood beat Read and Derek Chatterton beat Ago at Cadwell so Im biased about it being the best track in the country.Witn regard to being hirsutely challenged the phrase is -The balder I get the faster I was-see you all at Nyloc.
