New Exige V6 - Is it really an Exige?

On the spec sheet it says forged wishbones but in the vid of the rally Exige being made there S2 wishbones on the front .

Liking the exhaust bypass valve …
Donny will rock

So by selecting the Sport mode using the DPM button - will that just open the exhaust bypass valve?

Is that a button they added specifically for the SELOC crowd?

“Lotus DPM (Dynamic Performance Management) is an addition to the standard car from the entry level Elise 1.6 upwards and will offer stability not only when pressing on but more importantly when conditions change and road surfaces are incompatible with high levels of grip.
Hydraulic Brake Assist will detect emergency braking and increase braking if required to ensure maximum possible braking is used if required.
Electronic Brake Distribution will enhance stability by limiting rear brake pressures if the ABS is close to being activated when not required.
Electronic Differential Lock will ensure that if there is a road situation which leads to a wheel with less grip spinning then braking force is applied to this wheel to allow torque to be sent to the other wheel which means better cornering performance and acceleration on surfaces where one wheel can grip and the other cannot.
Cornering Brake Control is there to help when the car is heavily loaded at the front under partial braking and oversteer comes into play. The system will reduce brake pressure on an inside wheel or increase the braking pressure on the outside front wheel before the car becomes out of shape.
Drag Torque Control Too fast off the throttle or a snatched downshift can lead to the engine braking the wheels too quickly causing slip or oversteer if cornering. This innovative system will apply partial throttle to ensure stability.
Anti-Lock Braking is a common system on cars nowadays to reduce brake pressure if available braking torque is more than conditions allow to ensure that the shortest stopping distance possible is attained under all road conditions.
Traction Control System ensures no wheelspin under heavy acceleration.
Vehicle Dynamic Control will apply subtle brake pressure at the required wheel when the car becomes unstable.”

Noooo … an E Diff ?
The Stig,s gonna love that…not !

I have to say all that e-guff is a total turn-off for me. In a track car I honestly want something analogue with as little as possible between the controls and what happens. OK you can probably turn it off, and I guess its a prerequisite when you’re flogging a 350bhp rwd car to a global market,… but for me its a more of a downside than that questionable rear end.

Turn it off , I have launch control but never used it.

I’ve just bought EVO and can’t stop looking at it the new Exige…I think it looks fantastic apart from the roof (which just looks too Elise-like). The car looks very poised and aggresive enough!

Kurt

Yeah, i’m with Ben, too much electronic jiggery pokery is never a good thing

I do like it, but tbh it’s just motivated me to get mine to the same bhp/ton with my lard ass in it.

Like your thought process … I,m nearly there with mine (gearbox aside)
Of course a tuned one will seriously blow my doors off and I’ll need a rethink !

A quick “back of the envelope” calculation shows that a tuned V6 would need 500bhp to match a 350bhp Honda S1 Exige for bhp/ton. That’s a big task I reckon.

Did you calculate that by HP or torque?

I dont expect Frank will be buying one anytime soon !

Why on earth would I buy a car that is less in every way and looks like crap…?
The SC needs a chargecooler to make any real power,

I think it;s a total fail except for the light pod but I bet the price of the pod is laughable…

I’ve never been keen on the sound of 6 pots either.
Couldn’t they have squeezed the Audi V10 in there ?
… now that would be a car !!

Why would you want a Audi V10 in a cracker box ?
Just buy a proper Audi.

The fact that they now have three power output versions of the same engine is a joke… seriously who the hell would want the NA version ?

Lotus are playin a shell game with these cars and by doing so everyone will just wait and not buy anything, after all who wants to buy something only to see an improved version come out in six months…?

There is an element of truth there, but it is only what every manufacturer on the planet does. As well as taxes and death one other certain thing in life is in the new car market, something improved over what you bought is sure to be just around the corner

Personally i’d love an Evora with more than 345bhp without it being a GTE. How long will that take?

The only way to avoid this sort of seculative stuff is to wait for a car to end production, then buy the version you liked best.

Hell I could knock out a 600whp version in less than a week if I had one…
