new car, first thoughts

it is always the way…

Are you driving a RHD Elise/Exige?
If so, then check the plastic part next to the door window, I think it’s the one where the seat belt goes. Anyway, check around there…press against it, and check if the noise disappears. I have had the same noise…which was quite annoying to say the least.

Cheers jbs, it’s a RHD Exige S.

Anyhow, now it’s dark, it turns out my heater control lights don’t work and my foglights are only semi-circles, so it is going back in over xmas and they will have a go at sorting the squeek out then. They think it may be the roof?

This car is going to take a bit of bonding with at this rate - LOL

Your fog lights are correct. On Non-USA cars the outer half of the inner cluster isn’t connected.

That’s it, only the inner “C” of each lamp lights up (why would they do that especially for us - it looks crap, as if the lamps are broken?).

Please tell me I am right that the heater controls should light up - I couldn’t find them on the way home from work?!

Also, should the green ring around the 12v power socket between the seats illuminate to indicate it is working?

Can’t wait for a bit of dry weather over the hols to get out and wring it’s neck some - I can’t believe how it revs (my Ducati doesn’t rev much higher!!).

yes they should light up… common problem, mine were fixed under warranty (search my posts). not sure about the cig socket.

That’s what the dealer said (re: the heater and the foglights)…eventually…then agreed to order the parts and it is due to go in for a fix.

Badnis, I suppose I should have read the manual? - it is right there on page 118, only the inner halves light up - DOH!

RTFM??? naah, just drive it. I only know about the lights as I saw a diagram in the workshop manual while I was looking for something else. Cheers B

LOL - you are quite right of course! I am starting to “get it” now after a few days ownership

After the warnings about the tyres etc fron the dealer, I am surprised at how well it is sticking to the road on these filthy, sub-zero surfaces!
