went from a '54 Exige to a '56 Exige S
still running it in so no taking it above 4500rpm (total agony) but first impressions… WOOF!
drive-by-wire throttle much sharper than before - very responsive on the way up the rev bands, nice oh-so-tiny lag on the way down (lots of pop-crackle from Stage 2 ). Supercharger is just begging to be given a full blast, not long to go (put 300 miles on her today, day 1, at 600 I can rev fully and after 1000 she’s ready for a full on spanking)
seats are more comfortable although i miss the squeegey ball
boot lid is a bugger to close, really needs a hard slam, will see if i can have that adjusted
is it just me or did the hot/cold/fan controls used to be illuminated?
VIN number now displayed on the top of the windscreen, quite annoying, will probably peel it off
Blaupunkt DAB stereo has been updated, same basic features but now snazzy colour changing display (literally cycles the colours of the rainbow)
Usual squeaks, rattles etc… will slowly iron them all out! Stage 2 sounds like it is a little close to the hole that was cut in the undertray at certain rev points… will have it checked @ 1000 mile service
I like the new lights on the front, much brighter. Condensation in both headlamps so will get that fixed @ 1000 miles. Is it just me or shouldnt the driving lamps operate independantly of the main beams? they would be perfect fog lights if they did… but as it is, the main beam needs to be on and of course in fog thats no use!
handling seems a lot tighter on this car. Given that the setup on paper is identical, I’m wondering if the previous one had screwed up alignment or something. This car has a much better stance into corners etc… like twice as good. Curious…
Also fuel economy seems a LOT better… although that might be more to do with not going above 4500rpm!!!
Anyway… off out again to do some more miles. Just want to give a shout to B&C - great job again - they even delivered it to me here in Wales where i’m staying for Xmas (lent me a canary yellow Elise 111r for 2 days - actually a damn fine car. No grip from the back end though. And yellow!!)
