NAME AND SHAME YOUR DEALER OR PRAISE THEM

COME ON WE ALL TALK ABOUT IT NOW HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN LET OFF STEAM WITH ANY PROBS WITH YOUR DEALER OR TELL US ALL WHO THE BEST OF THE BUNCH IS

we can tell you’re a newbie, I believe in praising the dealers but if you have a problem with a dealer sort it out with them first, most of them are good at fixing mistakes. this is not a slagging off forum

Seconded, Maddog

Well not to completely disenfranchise andy (but whilst agreeing), I think Bell & Colvill are pretty good, not cheap but good.

On the non-dealer front, I like Lakeside Engineering. Good boys, know what they’re doing and pretty good value.

On the mates front, the Edwards are hard to beat!

Ian

If you get [censored] service, you should say so. Dealers charge such mad prices that everything, and I mean down to the triple ply loo rolls, should be perfect.

I beleive that they should not be put on a pedestal, because TBH some of the prices they have charged people on this forum takes the piss. Take the chap who wanted his tyres changed, the dealer takes them round the corner for the back street bloke to do and yet charges double what he does, if not more. That sort of thing makes my blood boil.

So I say name and shame the robdogs.

I’ve encountered very mixed levels of service at various main dealers - I vote with my feet and never return to where I’ve had poor service…

After I’ve told them of course

Richard and Scott, Andy and Bob, all very good to deal with at B&C. Prices not cheap, but not a rip off either. Although they’ve yet to clean the car before returning it! But made the buying process very simple, and bend over backwards to accomodate in terms of servicing. Give great, honest advice too.

Wilsons seemed like a similar setup, until they tried to keep my 1000 deposit when i cancelled my order for… their demo car! the cheek…

Sinclaires… havent taken the exifge yet, but they were excellent for the elise, although not cheap!

I also believe in praising the dealers but if you have a problem with a dealer sort it out with them first.

Most of them are good at fixing mistakes and if they don’t and the problems are serious then I agree that someone would be in their rights to post some thing on a number of forums. But I would say this is not a slagging off forum just for the shake of it.

Every dealer has an off day and thats life. It is also easy to slag off dealers but I have found that you only get what you paid for. You will always find someone cheaper but I would question wether you get the same service. It is also hard being a dealership when your customers are so passionate about their cars, like most Lotus owners are.

I have only had dealings with Nick Whale Sports Cars with regards to Lotus’s , and they are based just outside Birmingham near Bromsgrove. They have been 1st rate and fair in all the dealing I have had with them in the last several years.

Second the good service from nick whale, even though my nearest dealer is in bristol i wont ever go there again since they tried to charge me over double the price quoted by nick whale to supply me with a new front splitter, could never figure out why there was so much price difference.

marc.

did not put this post up to slag dealers off in anyway just want to give future exige owners he prob come on this site just like i did when i was looking for my car BY THE WAY PAT AT KALVERTON MOTORS 5*TOP CLASS LOTUS MAN

Very smooth, no probs at all. I must say after sales service is usually veryy good and Ian is a top bloke.

BY THE WAY PAT AT KALVERTON MOTORS 5*TOP CLASS LOTUS MAN

would that be KELVEDON by any chance , I believe they have a reputation for being expensive

Williams Lotus Bristol has always given me great service, weather buying of aftersales.

Very early on in my dealer relationship but all I can say is that Chris Amey at Westover in Poole (tel: 01202 677511), was really great to deal with buying my new S2 and taking the 340R in part ex, deal was smooth and fast. Brought the car on Tuesday afternoon, it was colllected out of stock at factory and ready to collect on Saturday morning, including putting my personal plate on. No complaints and would heartily recommend him, indeed I was recommended to him by a couple of other happy customers.

I’d like to add in a good word for the team at Dream Machines in Heathfield, Sussex.

They may primarily be a TVR dealer who have only just started selling Lotus’ however I’ve had great service from them with my car, both pre and post sale.

Apparently Rob at Milton Keynes is an OK bloke

Im lucky enough to have the choice of 3 Lotus garages / specialists within 5miles, Nick Whale’s, Paul Matty’s and Horizon motorsport and personally Horizon would get my vote everytime!

Horizon Motorsport

The only real garage I have dealings with is Plans Motorsport. Graham and John are excellent to deal with. John has a huge knowledge and has always answered every question I have ever asked him. They are also real enthusiasts and you can tell they have a real pride in there work.

They are also great at parts supply, with everything I have ever asked for ariving exactly when they said it would and at a good price.

On the parts supply front, I have also dealt a lot with Elise parts. Everything I have ever had from them has been as described and has arrived the next day without fail!!!

Two excellent companies that I can not recomend enough!!!

Sean…

Yup, he’s not bad.

I’ll second that. Have been favourably impressed so far, especially as they’ve made efforts to actually save me money rather than grab a quick buck.
