There is no point, he can just look in front of him after we have gone by
I’m just worried about his usual erratic weaving about Ade. You know what he’s like! At least when he had the IMAX fitted, he could see us coming due to its widescreen nature!!
LOL been so long since I have been behind him for any period of time I forgot about his erratic weaving!
Maybe someone can donate him some lorry mirrors? JFK?
I’m sure I was stuck behind him on the A38 the other night …in the truck !!
looking really good John
It’s OK fellas I have a GayDar being fitted just for you SC Boys lol
Joel, I’ve just post this on MLOC
Cheers fellas, I love it, I really do but it’s not perfect like I say but close. Slightly wonky on the weave, only slightly and some marks under the wrap nothing major but it’s easy to remove and redo which if i wasn’t so busy at work and with Chatsworth and Spa around the corner I would have, maybe I’m being picky. My point is the ease of changing any of this, ok CF isn’t your thing and piano black may cause glare but you could choose any number of finishes.
Actually Jon my son and I were out on glare watch from 4 til 6 this evening. Funny but my sun glasses are polarised, no glare, no reflections nothing! Got out the car filled up and paid, got back in, pulled out the garage glasses on head straight into the sun and was greeted with vents as usual but staring from a single point catching the sun around each vent and weave but no major glare. We drove in the direction of the sun for miles and more of the same but no major glare. His shades were not polarised and much of the same. Out of the sun, fine no problem. B road trees and branches over hanging into the sun not ideal tbh, but again NOTHING with my polarised glasses on. Lol I’ll be wearing them at the Ring but if it causes an issue long term which I doubt as a track day car, I’ll try a matt-E-er wrap.I do love it tho!
Good news Jonny. It sure looks good! Love your project.
a bit OT, following my engine disaster from last year, I have started to learn how a 2ZZ-GE is built up inside. Boy, are there many pieces in a motor.
Well TBH I’m going to change it again in the winter, it’s just so easy to do and I’m not 100%
I know what you mean though I have a pile of boxes that’s almost an engine sat next to me a work. Inlet manifold is on the way and I have a block but need to buy new and it’s ready to build. All I do is read 2zz
Have you got any plans other than a stock engine, oil pump must play on your mind Joel?
How easy is it to removed and refit the head with the engine out?
Sorry for replying this late. I was at the Ring the whole weekend, where sadly another biker was fataly injured on Saturday (due to operating fluid at “Hohe Acht”) RIP
Regarding the engine, yes I have thought about upgrading the OEM oil pump, but the problem is that there aren’t many aftermarket pumps around that are bullet proof. I know only of CircuitWorx and have read all kind of opinions. There are many threads about tolerance issues (like this one for example http://www.mr2spyder.net/spyderweb/index.php?/topic/2195-circuitworx-oil-pump-gears-tolerance-issue/ or this Pro Drive/Circuit Worx Oil Pump Gear Disaster!!! - Honda-Tech - Honda Forum Discussion)
Hi Jonny,
Looks like a great project - having serious carbon envy now!
Tar buddy just waiting for the intake to arrive and get Spa out of the way…
Now then mate am loving what you have done to the cockpit think its the smartest exige interior i have seen. Was thinking i might copy if you dont mind? how hard was it to do the carbon wrap on the dash?
Cheers rick
Cheers Rick. Yes it was easy, I did have to seal, prime and paint the alcantara before wrapping it but becareful to keep the weave straight when applying with the scraper thing. Use of a hair dryer was easy enough to manipulate around the various corners. I also stapled the very ends of the wrap to make sure it stayed. I would say buy a top from a breaker Junks, UK Lotus Centre etc and get it right on that before taking you car apart…which is also easy as IMO
But I have repainted my top vent facia matt black as it did cause glare and my weaver could be straighter so I’ll redo that at some point.
Binnacle was from LM Corse 100 replacement not cover very straight forward to swap.
Thanks for that jonny some useful tips there just need to get some courage built up. Not as brave as some of you guys when it comes to taking my car apart
Rick
Now check this out, 9 months in the making of a pure NA masterpiece!
Big thanks to the fellas at DD Performance Research, it is BEAUtiful.
80mm throttle body is a work of art.
If you look closely I’m doing up my trousers lol…
Nice one Jonny
I had spotted the tissues
Oh shit, I had the head skimmed a while ago and i’ve just noticed today that I must have scratched it when polishing the ports. The grain from the skim goes across the bottom of the head but I’ve randomly scratched it up, down and around and around…not that bad but bad enough to piss me off. So will this be an issue? Will it need, can it be reskimmed. I assume it can…
Anybody…
it will depend on where the damage is and how deep the scores are, post some pictures? You should be able to skim heads more than one, but it will depend on how much they removed the first time, there is usually a maximum not a number of times I think.
