My exige has traction control but no tbutton!!!???

Hi all, so Iv been having a few problems with my exige s s2, Diagnostics are showing no errors or faults, the problem is the car feels really eratic at times and seems like it dosent know what it wants to do with it self at times, especially when it is running cold, it is very hard to drive. on closer look the other day I tried to give it some from standing whilst turning at the same time and the traction control light flickers and limits the power, now I know that there is usually a traction control button next to the gear stick but mine does not have one!!?? any ideas?? I hope someone can help because I cant enjoy my the the way I want to

You can disable tc by removing the ABS fuse and seeing if it then spins the wheels …
If so then you need to sort out why no tc switch is fitted and go from there .
Hth.
Ps. Just bought 2011 ‘The Wall’ re-mastered…
Awesome on a good system !

just done that and its GRAFTING now!! all though removing that fuse stops the speedo :stuck_out_tongue: any ideas where to take it from here? obviously abs light was on, traction control light was not lit up? but it was spinning for fun

First thing I,d do is remove the console to see if the wiring for the switch is there ,if it is then it may be a simple job to fit a non latching switch there ,best to get the original Lotus one.
Fingers crossed that’s all it is.
If not I’d ask John at JSR for his help (JDS) on here.

What else could it be though?

It makes no sense that there is no button with it having traction control??

Agreed, but unless owned from new there is no way of knowing if it was there in the first place or if someone’s simply removed it etc.
The original purchaser could have specified non switchable T/C ?
Just a guess …
I suspect JDS will post in due course.

Was that ever an option , new one on me , on any car, never mind a Lotus

Fook knows lol
I suppose anything is possible if you’re paying …
Maybe the previous owner had it removed to stop it scaring him??
Really don’t know , just guessing the scenario.

maybe had no TC from factory then a reflash down the line added the feature to the ECU

Isn’t this an S2 thread?

Does the car have a 260 conversion by any chance?

I think so IDG …
S1,s don’t suffer such electronic interference …

Reflash issue.

Could well cure it … but will cost a few quid.
I’d still like to wager that the required wiring is there and just needs a switch fitting.

Someone may have put a new console in and not cut a hole for the switch.
Lift the console, there are 3 bunches of wires, one to Hazard , one to central locking and the last set to the TC button, which if you are lucky will just be hanging around in there!

Had the same issue with mine, komotec 300s which was a flashed 260 cup ecu and gained tc in the process.

Check under the front of the console for a cable with a green connector, thats the one for the button. Ordered one from hanger 111 and fitted in 5 mins, job jobbed.

I thought TC cars had a knob on the steering cowl too? No mention of this?
Or can you get TC without variable TC? (Knob on steering cowl is to vary the slip)

2 types of tc as you mentioned, variable via the knob on the colmn or the more typical on/off version. might have been a change on the 08 onward cars, not sure.

White dash cars have on/off
Black dash cars have the variable
All the FBW cars have the TC in the ecu but if the ECU cannot detect a switch in the first five ignition cycles the TC is disabled by the ECU - apparently
