Your fault for saying you could change it quickly now.

i know, i’m kicking myself for that statement!!
If you need a hand give me a bell
It’ll keep you out of the pub
It certainly won’t drive him there!

That was cruel… Funny though
It does not hate you, its just testing how much you love it and where it come in your priority list!
We have all been there, hope the new rack goes in quick for you. I fear I may be goin gdown this route soon.
well i must really love it!!!
waited for the girlfriend to leave for work today before stripping off the rear uprights and driving to eliseparts to collect the new bearings and flanges. pop over the road to track club for them to press the new ones in, lucky i did it this way as the one of the new flanges just ‘fell’ in!! seems it was ever so slightly undersized, quick check with a vernier and one that was right was found
Back home, put it all back together only to find i’ve lost a ball joint nut luckily the wheel nuts are the same size and i have a few spares so that will keep it in place until i can get a new nut!
Just waiting on the rack now.

it will all be worth it when you get it to anglesey

Marc, I assume those were the uprated drive flanges from EP ?
yes they are andy.
now these new one are on it’s showing up how fooked the old ones were!!
One of the new ones are undersized?
yes sean, the guys at track club stuck the bearings in on the press, then put the new flange on top, lowered the press onto it and it just ‘fell’ in to the bearing!!!
Bloody Hell that is bloody shocking quality control. Mind you not the first time, that stuff doesn’t “quite” fit from Elise Parts!
never had any problems with the kit ive bought before.
I’m just glad i deceide to strip it all off beforehand and get track club to fit them into the uprights as i wouldnt have been best pleased to get it home or through the post and find out it was wrong, leaving a car up on axle stands on the drive!!

No that would have been really, really annoying wouldn’t it
( yup been there done that … just hoped the quality had improved … )
You really know when a car really hates you, it will try to kill you - I had the misfortune to own a new Citroen BX in the 80’s - all the hydraulics failed at 90mph - no suspension, no brakes, bugga all steering - how I laughed, esp when dealer told me it couldn’t happen
Simon - I had the same experience with a BX, apparently it was an “accumulator” failure - bloody scary, car was fixed and sold within a week!!! I vowed never to have another french deathtrap again
