Not good news Ben, but at least you’ve ruled another area out. Do you think you’ll have the calipers rebuilt and tested before Anglesey ?
I’m very tempted now by the APs got to admit.

For what its worth, I have 4pots front and 2pot rears operated through two master cylinders on my race car with performance friction 01 pads. After a few pumps on the pedal its solid and thats how it stays for a hard 20 mins race.

Ben, you have a serious problem there matey. If you calliper seals are on there way out, you should be able to see brake fluid weeping out.
Was the new master cylinder a motorsport one or a standard one?

Yup agreed something is very wrong and it is seriously pissing me off.
There is no obvious weeping but if it only weeps when really hot maybe it is burning off?
The new master cylinder was just an Eliseparts jobbie.

Cheers Con - really want to get it all sorted by Anglesey. My aim is to get it done and try and fit in another half day somewhere at the back end of March (possibly even Bedford as it’s only 90mins away and is pretty heavy on brakes).
What about the rear ?
If those sliding calipers are messing up it could have some effect on the pedal. I often found the problem with soft pedal was the rears needing bleeding …
Could it be another of those “Eliseparts almost fits” scenarios???

Could be -Martin & I tried their jobbie too…

I think that you are onto something there Andy. I think one of the rear calipers may be fooked. When I moved the car this morning one of the rears made a noise like it was partially applied when the handbrake was off and I reversed.
Ben - if your stuck I have a pair of rears as spares … they are in my Garage back in UK but I’m sure the tennant would let someone in to get them …

Thanks Andy. I’ll see if I can get hold of some anyways what are they off of…I think Brembo made them but are they a Renault part? I seem to recall someone saying that they were a PITA to refurb.

i am fefurbing mine at the moment, brembo will not supply any of the specialist screws, even to a dealer, so if you break one(like me) you are shafted, unless like me your stepdad owns and aerospace engineering company
the main seals on mine were split, so really were in need of some TLC.
iirc they are shared with the renault laguna.
I’m still on standard calipers, some Worth fluid and RS14s… never had a problem on a trackday or a race yet.
Pedal always solid and no hint of fade.
Really don’t see the need to upgrade ?! I did fancy putting some cooling ducts in, but really want some nice ali cooling ducts like Uldis made up rather than some bodge up job and I don’t think anyone does them off the shelf.

Thanks Dave - I hope to be in that place again soon.
Pleased to report it cures the “long pedal” experienced on track with 4 pot fronts & standard rears
Okay, only did a couple of 15-20 min sessions at Oulton today, but the brakes were awesome!
Did you have to drill extra holes to attach it to the pedal box?

Yep…well the Edwars Boyz did

I’m sure they’ll be fine after a bit of love and attention bud
I don’t think Randy even runs different pistons now, I think his last car (the blue elise) was running totally standard front and rear brakes like mine (obviously with non-standard pads/fluid/braided hoses)
can anyone who has the motorsport master cylinder fitted please post or send me a pic of how the brake lines are hooked up please???
TIA marc.
Rob’s install is very nicely done, but getting him to tackle the technology of taking a pic and posting might be too much for the ol’ fella
