Seems my beast is not taking kindly to knwoing it’s going to be sold, so it’s decided to give me [censored] again…
I took it in for its first MoT today and its failed abysmally on emissions:
CO limit 0.3
HC limit 200
1st fast idle:
CO 1.72
HC 1889
2nd fast idle
CO 1.00
HC 845
Natural idle
CO 1.89 (limit 0.5)
This is still with the original exhaust with its buggered baffles on it (the guy supposed to be fitting the exhaust from Kerry hasn’t had a chance to do it yet), but I wouldn’t have thought that should affect the emissions. Tester reckoned the cat was fooked and with those readings I can only assume he’s right…
It seems from reading the other MoT thread that I’ve had the same as the other guy - cat has failed and damaged the baffles along with it…
So where can I get a cat from at a good price? I see that EliseParts.com do one for 259+VAT - would this fit ok? I assume it would. Am I also right in thinking that it would be the same cat as any other K-series ie MGF or Rover 618 etc…
Yep, pretty hot by the time they did the emissions test as they had it running while they were doing everything else pretty much, and they did it last…
You probably had the same problem as me… My CAT got blown out the back of the exhaust and took the baffles with it. I’ve since put an Elise Parts exhaust on and it sounds SO much nicer, more power too .
There are some Lotus specialists not far from you that have a cat they use for owners with decatted cars that have “forgotten” to put the cat back in before MOT !!
