Well, took my gearbox to my gearbox bloke this morning. We took it apart and it’s F****D. The two gears that we replaced last week out of precaution as after 4,000 miles the dogs were about 60% worn (1st and 2nd) are now completly worn away after no more than about 50 miles. We think this accelerated wear resulted in the box throwing itself out of gear which inturn broke the selector fork pin.

Our only conclusion is that the two new gears sent from Quaife were not hardened before being sent out. We are getting them hardness tested and then I guess it will be a heated discussion with Quaife if it does turn out that they are soft.

Give maddog a break - he did 50 odd laps of Oulton in my car - and the gearbox is still fine.

Frankly a poor show if you ask me - I was hoping for an excuse to have to upgrade to a CR box…

Yeah too right ! I spent half my day gazing at it, and for a good ten minutes after I saw little black dots kinda floating in mid-air, dear God is it worth it though, the car looks incredible, especially with the black detailing .

Yeah, it made a weird grinding noise (bit like a box full of neutrals…) followed by a high-pitched sizzling and a pop and it’s never worked since
