Mid Engined Race - Silverstone 1st July

Weather is looking good for Saturday.

I suspect a certain football match is going to keep numbesr down though.

Ian

Yeah I am getting one of those power ariel things for the portable, so the footy will be on in our garage!!!

I really need to keep up with the AMOC calender! Only just got word of the race from 83man (Thanks Dad!)

Seeing as I’ll be at Silverstone Thursday and Friday anyway, why not go for the hat-trick? Hope to see you all there.

Looking forward to this

Well, my car is running again. WOO HOO and with a whole day to spare. lol

The engine is a load quietier now all of the tappet clearences are correct. I have also moved the fuel pump again. lol. It was just too crowded where it was, so now it is nicely tucked out of the way.

Re-piped the gearbox cooler now that I have nice new return drillings that I had done while the gearbox was apart.

Just got to test the rebuilt gearbox up on axle stands to make sure it engages and that the clutch is OK etc.

Then fit my new carbon seat (same as Russ’s)

Bit of wiring and dash work as well, but nowt to dodgy.

Thern put all the bodywork back on and rag it up the road!!!

Plus I have to finish (err I mean help) my son with his John Lennon project. So in the words of the great man HELP!!!

What? Is he building an airport (Back in the USSR)?

Nice one Sean! didn’t really fancy our chances in the race flintstone style

Although you might have won that class!

LOL

Wow, today has left me utterly, utterly speechless, which, is actually probably a good thing, because believe me, all the superlatives in the world cant even begin to describe the kind of day its been, and not just for me, but Ill leave Russ to explain that.

Only slight downer on an incredible day was that my piece of sh*t camera meant that only about 2 of my Vids came out, and that Peskys car looks like it had been in a fire . Its doubly annoying because the video of an incredible bit of action involving an Aston and Russ is just a black screen, which sucks, enormously, so so sorry guys .

That said, wow, I mean really and truly wow, thank you to absolutely everyone for making a really special day .

David

WHat happened result-wise?

Also, how did Sean and Maddog do, not that a VHPD would have been ideal for Silverstone.

WHat happened result-wise?

I think we should let Russ and Graham answer that one

The simple answer is that Russ was fifth in the Mid-engined race after starting from the back row after a misfire in practice but RUSS and GRAHAM WON THE ENDURANCE RACE from 9th on the grid. Graham handed over in 4th place but a super pit stop put Russ out in front and he drove brilliantly and managed to stay there until the end to win by 9 seconds!ABSOLUTLETY BRILLIANT DAY OUT.

Sean broke his gearbox during testing yesterday but was a true gentleman and brilliantly generous today and gave total support to the LDC entered VVR car even lending rear discs and wheels and tyres. Dave was a spectator today, not sure why.

Dave and Sean were going to drive Sean’s car in the endurance race. Sorry to hear it broke. That must be why Dave was spectating.

Well done Russ. Which Graham was he driving with - Plans Graham?

Here’s a few pics from today. Gav (Tarmac Terrorist) also took part in (and finshed) his first race. Well done guys!

Darn, should have hung on! WELL DONE BOYS!!!

I saw the Ultima be very VERY lucky down the back straight. Must have gone round, seemingly from a straight line, at least 3 times, missing the wall by inches and then spitting out A LOT of flames from its pipes (Bailey didn’t bat an eye lid, tcsh kids these days). What happen to the others up front (e.g. the no. 15 S1 Exige)?

Any ‘dents’ from Graham’s fighting with the Ultima on lap 1 or 2 (I forget)?

Ian

RUSS and GRAHAM WON THE ENDURANCE RACE from 9th on the grid.

That sounds like an amazing result - well done to the whole VVR team, not just playing with the big boys but getting the better of them
