The Dymag rims look damn Fine !!
It looks like they might be made of carbon fibre so I guess they are big Bucks !!

Wow!
Those look the business!
Trying top find out about mgnesium wheels and found the following bits:
“Magnesium wheels offer consumers improved safety by shortening braking distances and delivering higher acceleration rates as well as improving gas mileage. The “dampening” factor of magnesium allows for vibrations caused by road imperfections to be absorbed six times more effectively.”
“most magnesium alloy wheels are too fragile for daily street use and are very limited in their finish options allowing only painting or polishing (and frequent polishing of magnesium wheels is required due to magnesium’s willingness to oxidize). In modern times, the most common uses for magnesium wheels are on Champ Cars, Indy, Formula 1 and GT cars where the race team’s continuous monitoring and testing can confirm their strength and durability between events.”
“Magnesium has a lower tensile strength-the material’s resistance to being torn apart-than aluminum, as well as a lower modulus of elasticity-a measure of its ability to return to its original shape when distorted. While desirable in racing for their light weight, magnesium wheels are more susceptible to damage from hitting debris in the road than aluminum”
Wow!
Those look the business!
Group buy anyone?

That’s what I was thinking. However I don’t know what I’d do with the extra bolt hole these have.
The dymag 5 spoke magnesium look pretty nice as well, assuming they now do 17" as well. Be interesting to know if they offer anything that fits S1 or S2.

Bet they don’t. The S1 has pretty specific requirements and I had to get a group order together to add to an order of 25 sets from Lotus to get Speedline to start production again and even then they said they weren’t making much from it.
Not being a kill joy, it’s just this road has been trodden many times before.

Ian - do you remember if anyone contacted Dymag?
I bet the price of Dymags, is err, astronomical

I can’t remember who has been tried to be honest but agree with Mr P.
I don’t doubt that they are not cheap - just look at the manaufacturers that are making them standard fittment.
"Developed by DYMAG in the UK, and fit to the world’s most exotic Super cars including, the Koenigsegg CCX, Ascari and Mosler, these wheels are the lightest, most sophisticated automotive wheels currently available. Each DYMAG wheel is made up of a carbon fiber barrel and forged magnesium center disc. Center disc and barrel are attached by specially coated titanium hardware.
Each carbon fiber rim is fabricated using a solid metal mold which ensures they are consistently made to a very close tolerance of accuracy straight from the tooling. This also gives a very high quality, durable finish which is resistant to brake dust, salt, ultra violet and the usual forms of corrosion. Carbon fiber in this form is not only very strong, but is also quite resistant to shock. It will not shatter as evidenced by its use in the construction of formula one chassis and aircraft wings.
The low weight but high stiffness of carbon fiber rims produces a very light weight rim to the wheel ratio, significantly reducing the moment of inertia and drastically reducing the amount of power required to turn the wheel. Consider that a standard Porsche 18" wheel weighs about 30.86lbs, the DYMAG CARBON FIBER/MAGNESIUM equivalent weighs around 13.23lbs for a total weight savings of approximately 70.55lbs per package!
The effect of carbon/magnesium wheels when fitted to the car is to reduce the gyroscope effect of the wheel and ultimately producing the following effects:
And let’s not overlook the visual impact which is nothing short of stunning! Center discs can be color coded to match or contrast the vehicle’s color."
Something there for everyone then!
I still really like these KMS ones here
Can you change hubs to the S2 type (i.e. PCD of 100) so there’s a wide range of wheels to fit?
ive got a set of wheels from the last batch and mine seem fine and they have been on the car for a while now. i asked speedline about it and they said your the only person to come back with this problem.
Glad yours are fine, but mine definitely are not.
Dunked them in the bath today and there are clearly bubbles streaming from 4 of the 5 spoke inner joins. Will be going down to meet up with David Williams next week to do a submersion test.
What’s the paint like on yours? Mine seems very soft and are easily scratched
the paint seems ok i haven’t scuffed it yet. I hope you get some wheels sorted, they do look good. if you cant get another set and you get your money back i think plans have them in stock but at 1600 or 1000 second hand.

Ok I contacted Dymag and got the following response:
"Thanks for your e-mail, sadly we cannot make the wheels for an Exige in carbon/magnesium at the moment as we have not made the tooling for 17 wheels. We can however make 5 spoke magnesium wheels as the photo shows (the one above).
These are still lightweight at about 5.6kg for the front and 6.2kg for the rear, these cost 2292 plus VAT and shipping. Are you situated in the UK? We can normally supply these within a 4 week delay, maybe quicker at this time of year. Please let me know if you would like to order some wheels."
HOW MUCH !!?!?! Jeepers, having those other nice alloys personally imported from Japan is cheaper
I have some Compomotives in excactly the right size.
Got them off Ebay. Similar weight to the Rimstocks, and tough as old boots, in black. (excuse the cheap winter boots)

OK this is confusing. One of my best mates is one of the biggest sellers of compo’s in the country and he has been in touch with the factory to ask about Exige sizes for me and was catagoricly told that they can’t make the correct offsets. I am not for one minute saying that you haven’t got what you say you have got, but would you mind seeing if there is a part number or batch number or something like that on the wheels that I can give to my man to chase up with the factory.
Many thanks,
Sean…
