Nice car - sorry to hear about your licence though.

Good luck with the sale.

39,000?!!? :astonished:

Which chassis number is it?

Its Mark Hodgson old car if he’s known here.

I personally think that this whole S1 Exiges appreciating in value now is getting a bit silly now! 39K!!! Best of luck!

Logically, THE ‘rarest’ and perhaps most expensive cars will be low mileage un-molested original VHPD examples… like Harveys for 22K and the one Barry Ely had for 24K. Both were mint with miles under 10K. They seemed to be well priced with balance.

I am certain that ALL S1 Exiges will appreciate over the years as they become more rare… but not 100% in 6 months!

Anyway, back to sulk for selling mine 6 months ago for 18.5K!

Yep I’m with him I just cant get my head that either, it makes total sense otherise but nothing modified.

Seems pricey for a converted car for sure, but fair play, can ask what you like. I’ve been offered more than 39k for my car in the past week (to sell it once it’s finished). But not interested.

That sums it up well George! Supply and demand, and there are peeps out there with more money that I will ever have that believe they can buy anything at a price… and will pay anything to get what they want!

But that only works if the owner is not a passion head about their car… for most S1 owners on here I suspect they would not sell at any price. And for that matter S2 owners too!

I also hope never to sell mine now, 39k is way too much even if converted and perfect…

As a genuine matter of interest chaps, what you buy instead for 40K? Please only respond with road legal choices - ta.

PS Apologies to Eric for thread hijack.

Guys, the car is to a very high spec and there is no way you would build it for that if you weren’t doing the spannering yourself.

If there is a genuine person that wants that spec of car and has the dosh to do it all in one go, then its a good deal.

Just to add to the discussion, I almost sold mine this year and a price was agreed on that was a HELL of a lot more than 39k!!!

I added mine up and as it stands now my car is 43k in parts alone, and that is only valueing the base Exige at 14k

I’m with Pesky, buy something that fast and good on track and as a nice SUnday car for less than 40k

You could get a 260 cup or a pre reg 2010, i think ? for that money that is what i would be looking at.
Not saying its not going to sell at that though, someone will get a car they no doubt will be happy with.

Thing is, it’s not just the car/performance that we all love…what price is the smile on your face worth? In fact, it’s not just your own smile is it, we must never forget the positive reaction from everyone else who sees them being driven

Think mine has appreciated another 10K this week LOL

The 2010 Cup 260 was 46K in 2009 ie before additional 2.5% from January 2010.

Don’t think they’ve sold many of them either, in the UK

Not to get into a debate on Erics sale’s thread, but exceptions exist, Esprits car is being restored to a better than factory fresh spec and is oen of 2 (?) in NZ thats clearly going to drive a premium, demand over condition and availability. And there are exceptions here in the UK, but all in 39k is still a huge price, you rarely get back what you invest in a car.

That said I m sure as previously mentioned someone with a suitably big wallet, where 10k either way really doesnt matter and the inclination will pay it.

Obviously best of luck to Eric with the sale - it was still a suprise to see the price.

It WILL sell for that price for sure …

Maybe not a quick sale , but, if held onto for long enough the asking price will be paid…
We may be surprised … only takes 1 person to love the car and it’s sold !!!

Good luck… Nice car…

A 2010 240 Type 72 then. Lovely

Guys,
You gotta remember that he selling it at European prices… The Euro has been stupidly strong against the pound, so they have all been rushing over here to buy cars. You may balk at that price, but a European would think 45,000 is a great deal.
