We (the Lotus community) finally have TOTAL access to the stock ECU. We’ve been working with FastWorks to develop a VERY comprehensive ECU editor for the stock ECU. This gives you standalone flexiblity in an OEM package with OBD2 data compliance, etc…
We’ve learned a lot about the existing flash tunes and other editors on the market and their limitations. With this editor, we have the same, if not MORE, control over both performance and non-performance cals within the ECU than even Lotus does.
With the T4e cars, we even have Live Tuning! We’ve started putting together a library of flash tunes built with this editor and the performance gains were great over all other aftermarket flash tunes. Of course, if you want to build your own tune, you can buy the full editor suite as well. I don’t have it all on the website yet, but the link below will give you an idea…
Hi, how does this work for uk owners? Is it a case of buying a cable and your software and uploading it?
I’m all for more companies cracking the Lotus ECU - more competition pushes development. The standard ecu’s are a powerful thing capable of much more than holding a factory map. The mention of the shift light is interesting too.
I use a macpro, but of course the editor is a windows based program that I run within parallels… We’ve talked about mac, but too many other irons in the fire right now…
turbophil - to remap a UK car how does this work? Looks like it’s just a software download which costs $1800 then you need a rolling road and a laptop, correct?
Sadly $1800 gets you a syvecs, doubt you will get many takers at that price. Half that and I might be interested as it increases my tuning options from the one I have currently
In many areas, having the stock ECU is required for road going cars. Real race cars are going to run whatever they’re used to running… But the street cars out there, there’s not a standalone in the price range of the software that will do as much as easily as the stock ECU will. Keep in mind that if you want to do the tuning yourself, you have the map in the ECU to work from… You have many more features to ensure the car runs correctly in all climates and elevations in an OEM ECU, that after market standalones lack. It’s MAF based, so you don’t have to worry about small VE changes totally botching up the tune like you do with speed density or alpha N…
I’m not saying the stock ECU is perfect for everyone, but it’s perfect for 90% of the users out there to be sure…
Sorry, I’m still on the stock ECU as hacked by Charlie X but I would like more than one place who can tune my car, so this would interest me at half the price, as for a replacement that works as well, I have seen the syvecs in operation and it seems every bit as good as my stock ECU for a similar price.
Syvecs would be around £2k with all the bits needed (it would also need fitting with a custom loom) .You would then need to map it from scratch, unless of course you can find an off the shelf map (JSR?).
The original sincs map on mine was pretty rubbish tbh. I would be interested to see how well the stock ECU responds if it can be properly tuned with this software.
