Been there in a previous life
I think that would look fine if not for the centre console. There’s cream, then there’s far too much bloody cream
This morning i got it outside and the front wheels off and gave it a good clean, most or the suspension is getting replaced but still its nice to have some of the crud off it.
With the cooling system emptied and blown out with compressed air it was back into the garage and mounted on the lift.
Another little job was drilling the front alloy bells for the 6mm locating screw into the hub. The bells will now be re anodized black or silver not sure yet.
Well made a start should my horn be on the inside of the crash box ? I have not seen this before always on the outside.
My horn was inside the structure… I think.
Thanks, i intend to move it, as should it fail its a clam off job to repair may even put a airhorn on
There has to be some double entendre joke here about horns inside clams…
(I’ll get me coat…)
I thought about cracking one, but decided I against it . . .
The strip down continues, some very rusty brackets, and fastners but the good news is the heater flaps work perfect.
The condenser has seen better days and will be replaced
Wow there’s rust there on parts that I didn’t even think could get rusty
This will be quite a transformation
Submerged in salt water , perhaps . . . .?
Let the strip down comence, to be fair its not to bad, and the suspension came off straight forward.
The radiator and condesor came out easily and even better it has a pro alloy radiator but the condenser is cheese.
The suspension is a little crusty but ive seen worse and apart from the wishbones and hub carriers it will all be replaced.
I was in to minds if i should remove the heater, all the various flaps functioned as they should but pleased i did as it was very dirty down in the depths of the chassis.
All nice and clean and the water drain pipe cleaned out.
Various heater components, awaiting cleaning up and checking.
While the rack is out the column shaft UJs got replaced, the rack will be checked for any play and repaired/replaced.
Chassis coming up well, bit of a boring job and not my favourite.
Looking good, my heater box was hiding all sorts of goodies including the nylon spacers that always get dropped from the fuse box mounts!
In two minds if i should put holes in the bottom of chassis to drain the water. Has anyone done this ?
Yeah I did it in accordance with this. Felt bloody odd drilling the floor though!

any pics of what you used to split the balljoints, and did it damage the rubbers
I use one of these, but to remove them you need to remove the rubber boot. As i always replace them i just pull them off using a screw driver, but it is possible to get the rubber off without damage.
Yeah i think i will drill it
sorry ,I meant split the ball joint off the stub axle
