komo-tec 250/280 conversion

When will you car be finished?

I hope 2-3 weeks but as we all know these thing can take longer, when I have something concrete to report I will with photos etc.

Why Knocking the komo-tec 280s ?

Theres only 2 cars in the Uk and from the info posting thats going on it doesnt seem like people really understand the kit properly;

As for adding weight, if you do a search of seloc i did a weigh bridge of the car and its actually 5kilos lighter that when standard, mainly due to light weight components and the komo-tec exhaust weighing half of the standard one. So weight is not an issue.

Plus ade, will you offer a 1 year warrnaty with the kit? Remember theres over 30 done in Germany ok, and 2 (3rd one of the way) done in Uk ; and as you say time will tell.

I have now covered 5000 miles in the First Uk 280s and its not missed a beat; It drives and behaves like a factory car; Ive done loads of tests for my own piece of mine (WIDEBAND AFR’S ,DYNOS in various conditions) and have driven the car extremely hard;

Also it runs cooler than the standard s.

I dont think people should knock the car, when most have never driven the komo-tec conversion , let alone had chance to examine the work etc.

Im sure there is other good solutions for the Exige s but doesnt mean that the komo-tec s one cant be as good etc

There will be a uk review out in December in Performance tuner as mentioned.

Time will tell.

As I tried to point out I am in no way saying it is not a good conversion, (Iwas planning on getting it myself) just that I feel the way the Charge cooler has been implemented is not ideal. The extra weight high up is what I see as a problem not overall weight.
Is it correct that it is a jacket that surrounds the original air to air cooler to make it into an air to water cooler?
I am not designing a kit, my car is a being used for R&D for several components from different companies I hope that all these together will give an nice option for people to use. It is nice to have options and choices. It might turn out to be rubbish and if it is I will certainly post that to.
Baseline dyno is being done today…

Any news yet on your upgrade Ade?

Well the before dyno (done on a Chassis Dynamometer) running a sports cat and exhaust with a panel filter was 203bhp with 152lbft of torque at the wheels, I at present don’t have the graphs but hope to have them soon.
The first part of the upgrade is being done at present so the car will be away for at least another week
Then the next part I think will be at least 3 or 4 weeks I don’t think I expect the final numbers and cost till the new year.
I again have to say this is really a marry up of several solutions at present and not a kit. Ijust seems to me like a good way forwards and might never come to anything other than costing a lot of money, on the other hand it might work out very well and produce loads of power. Only time will tell

Does anyone know which issue of Performance Tuner the review will be in, new issue out now at its not in that?

Ian

Or can someone post it up ???
