Keenan's new car!

Ok Guys I need your help and opinions.I am shopping for my new car and I cant bring myself to own another soft-top car. I have a maximum budget of 35k, if i throw in my Impreza, the only way I can do this is if I get a car that I can use every day. Otherwise Ive got 30k for something less practical. My first thoughts were the new Evo 7 and for some strange reason I quite fancy the s3 Audi, I have seen one with lots of trick bits and 300 bhp.Does anyone else have any Ideas?Kee [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

Do I take it a replacement Exige is not on the shopping list? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] Hope you’re recovering OK.

For 35K you could stretch to an R34 Nissan Skyline V-specVery fast, exclusive, fun + loads of toys.Easily upgraded to 400bhp or 500bhp.And in the event of an accident is far more solid.

KeeAudi S3 is a “nice” car, but if you want a “balls out” motor, go for the EVO [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]My previous motor was an EVO VI, & it was fast, practical & fantastic fun! Big downsides were a) fuel (super unleaded only & 15-25 mpg) b)difficult to insure, especially with mods c) constant worry about it getting nicked or carjacked (well I do live near to Manchester!!)Why not get 2 cars? Suggestions: Skoda Octavia RS for practical/quick road use (15K) plus a Caterham for trackdays (used for 12K to 20K depending on spec) [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Glad you’re feeling better & thinking about the important things in life again. Sinner! No seriously how did the evo compare with the Exige to insure?Kee [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

[image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] If you want something in the same line that’s more substantial but will still enjoy track days have you considered an Esprit? You could do a lot worse, and 20k - 30k will buy you a lot of Esprit these days… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image] If youve not driven one, give it a whirl; I think youd be pretty taken with them.

I can vouch for a TVR Cerbera 400+bhp, cost less to insure than my Exige. Only go for the 4.5 though as there have been serious problems with the speed 6. If your ever back down Brands Hatch way give me a shout and I can take you out.

KeenanAny developments on your choice of new wheels?Keep in touch [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

Gone for something very plain and boring but comfortable. My new car arrives on Tuesday.its a New BMW 330ci M Sport and i am going to get a Ducati in spring.I liked the Mid range torque in the BM (300LB FT) Not blisteringly quick of the line but mid range is as fast as most cars and you can hear yourself think. That together with the fact that there is a 6 month waiting list and i got a canceled order means that it will hold its value realy well.Sad arnt i?kee:)

I think you’ve earned an honorary place in the Register!?Enjoy the air con!..traction control, ABS, etcI guess you can try and get your own back on the passing Exiges in the Spring!Have fun, Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

A Ducati as well…that is a surprise [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

Nice choice. You won’t be disappointed with that. If its torque you wanted though you should have picked the diesel - about 25% more than the petrol and it hits 60 in 7.8! 50+ acceleration is nearly identical although changing up at 4,000 might be a bit of a culture shock for an ex-Exige driver.I’m still in a holding pattern for a new M3, paid the deposit in Sep 1999.

Kee, I hope you enjoy your new car, but I suppose it’s not too likely that we’ll see you at track days in it is it?! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] Forgive my lack of BM awareness, but I’ve seen "ci"s around and wondered what they are. What does the “ci” denote?

Kee,If you’re not going to be taking the Bimmer on the track, but you do get the Duke, you’ll have the perfect trackday tool!Maybe I’ll meet you on a bike trackday instead. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Ian

KeeWhen it comes to bikes the Duke 996 is one hell of a tool, R1’s & GSKR 1000’s are quicker but give me the duke any day. Hope to meet you at a bike track day

yeah, the Duke is a bit like our Exige. I used to have one as well. well, the top bike regarding Italian styling although has to be the new MV Augusta, what a stunner that is… erm…not so sure about your car choice. can you have fun in one of these?
