Just fitted HIDs!!

Just wanted to say that I had a set of 55w mains and 30w dip beam HIDs fitted and the difference is eerrrr night and day.

I’d recommend this mod to anyone.

I got me two pairs of ebay specials. Digital slim ballasts for 30 a set. I’ve bought these many times and treat them as dispoable but they rarely go wrong and if so usually require a 10 ballast to fix.

I wouldn’t recommend them with a convential reflector lens but with a projector lens like in the exige, the quality of the light cut off is superb.

They give an OEM xenon beam pattern. Being a purist I went for the best colour temp of 4300k. Anything higher is for chav morons.

At the same time I had a very strong earth installed ont he side that had been “suspect” and now the lighting is consistent and very impressive.

I can finally see when driving at night.

This car is so damn awesome, that I am tempted to keep it and the GTR.

marcus fitted similar on mine. must say they are superb…

Can you PM me the eBay link to the ones you bought, I am getting more tempted to do this mod.

 I would like the eBay link also

Thanks Dave

hope the MOT man is cool with them with 2012 regs

made all the difference with my car too

THE MOT man or MY MOT man?

I’m not worried!

I have 6 HID’s on mine and they are great.

Got mine from Yvo on SELOC.

Not had any probs with MOT over last 4 years even though they were illegal then.

I got mine from there too, and 4300K is spot on, looks very OEM.

I don’t use my Exige enough in the dark, to bother with the hassle & expense :sunglasses:

i’d like the ebay links too

Six!

Where the feck are you hanging all of them?

car like the front of a mod’s scooter!

I’m thinking

I’m thinking these youngsters aren’t tested for eyesight as part of a driving test anymore, alternatively the natural selection process of humankind has little use for retinal rods as a result of the ever present light pollution these days

aka if you can’t see with modern OEM headlights - slow the fook down tossers

Here ! Here!

Hahahahaha! S1 Elise headlights modern? If you consider Renault 4 headlights modern, then mounted lower down and behind hedlight covers, then fair play.

I’ve got loads of never before seen electrical items that you may be interested in - Playstation 1, VHS recorder, cassette player. Give me a shout, I can do you a really good deal, get them before all your mates

S1 elise headlamps? Absolutely fine if specc’d with the driving lights

hmmm,

when driving at night or by day,

given the option, would you:

a) like to be able to see things.
b) like to be able to see more things than in a)

I wonder…

the seller of my items (which came from canada and took over a month) has gone from ebay. No negative feedback, but in short can’t find him now! Very impressed with the kit though- especially for 30 a set delivered.

Totally agree with the above! Properly adjusted, installed and colour spec’d HID’s should not be a problem. Had them for 6-7 years as an aftermarket kit, no washers, no auto adjusting. Never had a problem with MOT or plod in 100K plus miles.

Totally agree there’s some pretty poor instals and colours out there.

Easy thing to do as far as government is to make all illegal.

Same as speeding. Modern car, wide awake driver, clear, dry day, 100mph totally safe. Old, pooly maintained car, sleepy/distracted driver, wet, dark, arguably 50mph isnt safe. But you need to make it an absolute offence, other wise its open to abuse, down to the discretion of the officer at that point, and loads of wiggle room for highly paid lawyers.

Sorry on the last bit Adam
