Did anyone else of the Scottish contingent receive the MMC invite to test drive the new Exige up at KH on the 18th Aug.
This could prove to be extremely interesting, as the invite says I’ll be able to test the new Lotus flagship to the limit if so I’ll have a pretty good comparison as to how the new coupe compares to the original.

Juts back from Zandvoort/Spa (both absolutely amazing tracks incidentally!) but no invite in the post - I think I’v been excommunicated since selling my Exige. Anyway, seriously considering an S2 Exige. Saw a few European ones over there and they got me thinking that I should take a test drive soon so this Knockhill thing sounds perfect if I can make it. In Krypton Green, it reminded me a little of a Miura.

My cars not been back to MMC for over two years, and I still got the Invite, however I have shown a fair bit of intrest in the new Exige. Give Graeham a ring and see if he’s still got any spaces, it’s about time you got back out on track.

Nothing wrong with the old one that will stop you going on track , infact some people would pay to have an exhaust that sounds like the one you’ve got.

Great to experience pax rides with two guys who’s car control is quite fantastic…
You have to bear in mind here, that it rained for most of the day and the track never got perfectly dry (always some of the famous KH streams in the most annoying of places…turn-in to Duffas being most notable but also the exit of the chicane,just where you are getting right back on the power as well as a few other scary locations… the extreme pax laps at the end were simply stunning… really needed some swimming gear… it lashed it down and i swear the S2 has 4-wheel drive… eh Vortex … no way it has that amount of traction on the wet grass otherwise
As far as driving the S2 goes… I have to say it was good, and the balance is very good, noticably better than the S1… Having picked up some advice from Hyla over about 10 laps I was just about to get into the swing of it when we ran out of petrol …
However, IMHO the S1 is such an excellent car that it’s very difficult to raise its game significantly… and for me at least, the S2 doesn’t really do it… maybe its the looks, or the high clutch bite point or the Brake pedal travel and ABS. These are all pretty trivial in the grand scheme of the cars qualities and things it would be easy to get used to but they meant that i never actually felt comfortable that i had a reality check on the cars envelope. If i didn’t have my S1 then i would be on the order books hwever, for me the step isn’t high enough and it hasn’t yet encouraged me to part with the spondoolies that would be needed to change.

Btw, anyone else going to Hot M this Thursday (the 26th)? Track is being run in the opposite direction. Not sure whether that’s a good or bad thing yet but should make things interesting.

Didn’t go since I was not invited by MMC (can’t believe there isn’t a huffy icon !) and also the minor problem of a head gasket failure while at Spa recently
