If I was you I would be installing the remote thermostat to minimize the risks now…

Uldis, I thought Simon wasn’t a fan of the remote thermo? (not that I’m going to dig through that tome of a posting to check)

Ian

Ok, I did check, and got it COMPLETELY wrong - see here

Ian

Uldis,
I have had a remote thermostat fitted for about 9 months now. When Dave Andrews ported my head the liners were a little bit low but there was no time to reset them so I just took the chance and paid for it

I’ll now be rebuilding the engine properly and see what happens but I think if it goes again I’m going to change the engine to the Audi one.

Hope you’re feeling better now. You should have aksed the doctors to remove some other non vital organs to save even more weight

Rox, I might try to get up on Thursday night for a blether.

Mike

Yep, better all the time.
And no, every other organ I needed, it was only the appendix that was optional and useless, very much like the AC in some Exiges…

Once it’s out you should try to balance it properly, send it to vibration free.
Ah, and when Somin opened my engine he saw that the stand proud of the liners was definitely too small. The HG would have gone again.

I’m most impressed with your ability to link DIRECTLY to the post within a thread that makes the reference… i wasn’t aware this could be done…

Also Simon gave us this link in one of the other posts
explanation of Remote Thermostat which i found interesting.

Bad news about the HGF Mike. Small consolation perhaps but at least it happened near the end of trip. Hope it’s all mended soon.

Lucky you brought Gerald with you cos I thought my Radical was a goner too after the starter clutch packed in. It was only thanks to his Radical expertise that Spa was possible at all for me.Phew! Got it back on Friday…now with fuel gauge fitted. Luxury!

I can honestly say that driving at Zandvoort and Spa was the best car experience ever for me by a long way. I was enjoying it that much, I literally had to peel myself out occasionally…What’s now known as “Doing an Uldis”… “go out with full tank, come in when almost empty”. Luckily the Radical seems take this kind of thing in it’s stride. Really pleased with it.

Anyone thinking about going to Spa (or Zandvoort) should get there ASAP. Fantastico!

P.S. Just read most of that 27 page “KingK” thread. My head hurts now. Very Interesting.
